Started reading a very WTF book today - Philip Jose Farmer's A Feast Unknown. Oh boy. It's a VERY gory and VERY rude story containing characters which are obvious nods to Tarzan and Doc Savage. Each chapter is full of WTF quotes and it just keeps getting weirder. So far, in the space of four very short chapters, a tribal man has gutted a dog and proceeded to have sex with its corpse, while the 1st-person narrator explains how he gets turned on at the slightest bit of violence - and quickly does the same thing to the tribal man!

Sick and twisted beyond belief!

So far so good I read The Atrocity Exhibition a few months back and was utterly amazed by it.

I'm just finishing of World War Z, it's one of the best books I've read in ages. Also started The True History of the Kelly Gang, which seems pretty good so far.

You'll have to try Farmer's "Image of the Beast" and it's squeal next. Private eyes, blow up dolls made from human skin, women who fall apart so that you can have sex with body parts and if I remember correctly a sword fight during which the hero can't stop ejaculating and slipping on his own cum! It may even be a werewolf he's fighting. Not read them since I was at school in the 80s.

Presently reading "The Dream World of H.P. Lovecraft" by Donald Tyson. The biographical stuff is good but Tyson who is an occultist by trade argues that almost all of Lovecraft's work was channelled from the astral plane or somewhere near by. The final part of the book is a huge let down where he discusses Lovecraft's influence on the modern occult scene and basically fails to deliver the goods and skims the subject which is worthy of a book or two of it's own.

The Lovecraft dream book is a collection of letters where H.P. explains how dreams shape his stories. The Tyson book is a biography with the main focus being on his dreams and how Lovecraft channelled them, for want of a better phrase, from a spooky world soul. Kenneth Grant and Phil Hine offer much more interesting theories and practical occult ideas if anyone wishes to pursue the occult Lovecraft further.

I've got the AMOK journal you mention. I've struggled over the years to find half the stuff I want from it.

At the mo' I am getting through vol 1 of CINEMA SEWER from Fab Press, had to get it after purchasing Arrow's Bare Behind Bars as I'm fast becoming a big fan of Robin Bougie. The blend of underground comic stylings, porn industry horror stories and straight up horror movie reviews works so well and has me turning pages at a very brisk pace, next month I'll be getting vol 2 along with Stephen Throwers Mightmare USA...
