With so many other distractions, reading a good book can often fall by the wayside. Having the books on my phone has been so useful, as I can read while on public transport or stopping anywhere for a meal.

Currently got my head stuck in this mammoth 720 page book, so I'm fresh as a daisy for a possible job running a recording studio for a local band who are, in their words "winging it" at the minute, and need someone with experience to take over, which is where I come in, hopefully

Best of luck to you.
I just got turned down by CEX in spite of ten years retail experience working at Blockbuster. I'm beginning to think I may be unemployable...

Cheers, I'm not getting my hopes up just yet, learnt that the hard way. As much as I've enjoyed being a student again for the past 3 years, I miss my weekly wage, especially when I was earning just over £1000 a week working as an electrician

Are you on drugs?

Can you string more than three words together?

If your answers to these questions are "no" and "yes" then i fear you were over qualified keirarts.

When i was first starting out in sci-fi and fantasy i was directed to The Belgariad.

Just as i'd finished the five books, Eddings and his wife published The Redemption of Althalus in lovely hardback which i couldn't wait to get my hands on.

By the end it dawned on me i'd just re-read The Belgariad in a shorter version where only the names had changed.

It sounds f*****g paranoid. But i suspect at 33 i'm being considered 'over the hill' for a lot of the jobs I'm applying for. If nothing happens i'm seriously thinking now of going self employed and maybe going back to college or something. I may even try to take up writing. Applying for some of these jobs has become depressing and mind numbing.

You could have a point. Many counter jobs are seen rightly or wrongly, as short term employment taken up by school leavers to generate some money.

Perhaps applying for management positions in stores would be better. If you are getting interviews then you are clearly the right material, sometimes experience, daft as it seems, in my opinion, can seemingly undermine potential employers as they may feel its their job you really want.

You are obviously well educated, literate and numerate try for a job like mine to tide you over. A learning support assistant is not a well paid post but they always say that you have a better chance of getting a job if you are already employed. Just don't tell 'em you applyin' for it on a "short term" basis! Do it quick though 'cos Gove is tryin' to get shut of us all!
