The book is excellent and the film is superb – it's been a long time since I saw it though, so thanks for the reminder!

Ballard fans should check out High rise, Concrete island, Drowned world and Low Flying aircraft. I read all of them within the space of a month. Really had a strange affect on my brain. Some forum members would say the effects are still noticeable today....

Me i'm well into WYRD SISTERS as I steadily march through the Discworld novels one-by-one.

Had another brief pause after being sent A collection of JIM WEBSTERS short stories. Not up on Amazon yet but apparently being prepared to be sold at a low price to get more people reading his stuff. An excellent read as always.

Same here, I know exactly what you mean, and I know it sounds corny but his writing really casts the everyday world around us in a strange and surreal light which is hard to shake off... I mean I never thought about motorways the same way again after Concrete Island...

Im sure its been already mentioned that Fopp are selling this for £2 when you make any purchase,If you get a chance listen to the audio version.

“I’d spend hours in HMVs, Virgin Megastores and second-hand record shops staffed by greasy-haired 40-year-olds dressed as 20-year-olds, listening to contemporary music of every genre – Britrock, heavy maiden, gang rap, brakebeat. And I came to a startling but unshakeable conclusion: no genuinely good music has been created since 1988.”

But don't listen to the audio book on the train, I did and got some very strange looks when I started laughing, uncontrollably, for what appeared to be no apparent reason.

Just started "Wolverine: Weapon X" by Barry Windsor-Smith. Windsor-Smith did almost everything on this project; writing, art, colouring, layout, even most of the lettering. It is highly unusual for a graphic novel to be so entirely one person's vision and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in!
