Regarding the film version of At the Mountains of Madness, Guillermo Del Toro was slated to direct. However Universal baulked at the budget of £150m for an R rated movie and wanted to make it PG13 to try to guarantee a profit after the R rated failiures of Watchmen, and Jonah Hex. Unfortunately the film is once again in limbo.

I have always had a huge fasination with Lovecraft, I had heard many great things about him and he was one of those writers I needed to pick up.

So I bought this, but I haven't had time to read any of it yet

finally read The Whisperer in Darkness and The Lurking Fear. former very good, latter an earlier story, so bit looser than his best stuff, good enough ending. BBC Radio4xtra played another adaptation, The Shadow Over Innsmouth, recently may still be on iplayer etc, but they repeated ATMOM quite qucikly so here's hoping this stands. am hoping theyll do The Dunwich Horror next!!

Lovecraft can be picked up pretty cheaply from various places, a lot of his stuff is public domain but I would highly recommend anyone with a bit of extra cash to invest in the three Penguin collections which come with excellent footnotes which illuminate the scope of Lovecraft's ideas and themes.
