"The deadline is fast approaching for you to get your name in our fantastic new Hammer book - unless you want to scribble it in by hand after you buy a copy later! Order before the end of tomorrow night and we guarantee you a place in Hammer immortality. Go on, you know you need something to show to the grandkids!"

I love the top right corner statement.

Is it now the only print magazine in circulation? Is Rue Morgue still going?

I sadly admit i've never heard of Paul Blaisdell.

He was a bit part actor (often uncredited) in a number of low budget science fiction films in the 50's. He was also a special effects technician who created the monsters for a lot of 'B' movie horror films:

The Beast with a Million Eyes (1955)
Day the World Ended (1955)
It Conquered the World (1956)
The She-Creature (1956)
Voodoo Woman (1957)
Not of This Earth (1957)
Invasion of the Saucer Men (1957)
It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958)
Earth vs. the Spider (1958)
Teenagers from Outer Space (1958)
The Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow (1959)

I knew him. He worked a lot with Roger Corman

I'm starting to think that tickets for the DarkFest thing are not selling as well as they hoped!

Firstly they are saying "DarkFest attendees will be getting a free classic DVD from 101, not a new movie. Among the choices: Tarantula, Mole People, Land Unknown, island of Dr. Moreau, Alligator People, and SSSSSS! If you haven't booked your ticket yet, you will be missing a treat!" and now they have added "As well as getting a free horror DVD, attendees at DarkFest will be getting a free limited edition mini-mag Dark Side brochure, which I must say is looking pretty spiffy. We will be selling tickets at Westminster this Saturday if you haven't bought yours yet!"
