I did notice a new paperback version today with a cover i liked. Is it a good read or not? I did enjoy rediscovering The Shining last October so thought i'd do the same with this novel.

£3.99 isn't a bad price for a classic King novel. Here's the cover.

Definitely worth a read, along with Salem's Lot and the Stand, it's an SK novel I've read more than twice and still love it, it was also the first of his that I read when I was 11 or 12

That's the edition I have, but after reading it 3 times, the spine is practically the shape of a crescent moon now unfortunately

I can imagine.

I actually haven't that paperback version. It sits there in pristine condition.

I also have it in hardback and that's the one i read.

I double dip on books more than movies.

Pet Semetary is one of King's best work. Its pretty much a joint 2nd place for my favourite King novel alongside Cujo, Firestarter, Dead Zone etc (I have a lot of 2nd favourite King books, I genuinely can't decide which I like better). Of course Misery remains my favourite by far (I've read it over 22 times since August 2009).

As for the films. Neither are outright perfect, but this is a rare instance where the remake was better for me. I like the original but the 2019 Pet Semetary was a surprise. Sadly the twists were ruined in advance (I wish, WISHI hadn't known what the big changes were in this but it wasn't my fault, it came up as a recommended video with the thumbnail ruining it) but my gripes were far and few.

I got a copy last weekend. Started reading it tonight. Love the way King brings the characters into play. I just want to sit on the porch with Crandall and drink beer.

First trailer for Doctor Sleep, based on Kings sequel to the Shining and gladly not a direct sequel to Kubricks film because Dick Halloran plays a big part in the novel. The trailer does use footage from The Shining and part of the score, but I don’t think that will be in the film itself
