The Stephen King Thread

As well as these I have a few of the only kindle releases and lots of his better movie adaptations. Salems Lot is a favorite book of mine.
What I love the most about King besides about writing about real people in extreme situations is tie ins to other books and the dark tower series. Discovering where the priest in salems lot ends up, or re visiting Derry several times is fasinacting. I'm not Annie Wilkies though. Just admire this writer and enjoy his work.

Does anyone else share a love for Mr King or am I alone on here...

I've loved his works ever since I read Pet Sematary about 20 years ago, his latest book is probably the best book I've ever read, really hard to put down once I started it. I also love most of the film adaptations too, especially Salem's Lot and obviously Shawshank.

Personally, I think that after 'Misery', Mr. King went down hill. For me, the shorter books have worked the best

It seems (to me) that since then, he was 'getting paid by the word', and so was just introducing characters (and by definition making his books longer and longer) for the hell of it

I also think that because he is so popular, his editor is too scared to stand up to him, and suggest that he take out all the the material which is not needed in the books!!!!

Big King Fan here and also proud owner of maybe one of the rarest limited edition books, due to the majority of the 500 prints being destroyed upon King's request as it had not been licensed. It is the German Edition Phantasia edition of The Mist (called Der Nebel) and it is rumoured that less than 50 copies still exist...

I also have the licensed EP edition of It (called ES), which came out before the English open market editions, so silly me read it and "damaged" the mint condition...

Yep, big Stephen King fan here, just because his books are the first adult reading I picked up when I was 11 or 12 - Salem's Lot and Pet Semetary... I must I think King has been going down hill for years now, although The Dark Tower is a fantastic acheivement, and the series had a brilliant climax, amazingly so considering King really struggles with ending his books (The Stand, It etc).

Anyone read his baseball book - I had it in my hand a few weeks ago in a store in Chicago and it's a nice little book.

I saw this in THE WORKS for less than a quid the other day. It was a nice looking little hardback with another story in it too.

I decided against it as Baseball is a subject i know nothing of, nor do i want to.
