The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense
The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (the B.P.R.D. or BPRD) is a fictional organization in the comic book work of Mike Mignola, charged with protecting America and the world from the occult, paranormal and supernatural. It maintains the services of several supernatural persons, including Hellboy. The B.P.R.D. originally appeared in the Hellboy comics but has also been featured in many stories under the B.P.R.D. title. |

I DO love Hellboy and the BPRD. There just so mush cheese in the very concept yet it's pulled of with so much gusto and grityness that it's thorughly awsome in every respect. The Ghost Team up wasn't bad at all either, and having recently purchased the 3rd Goon TPB, i'm looking forward to that also.

unleashing the beast Monsters Unleashed Monsters Unleashed was a black-and-white magazine published by Curtis Magazines (an imprint of Marvel Comics) from 1973-1975. The focus of Monsters Unleashed was on Marvel's own monsters: Man-Thing, Werewolf by Night, and Frankenstein's monster. (Each issue featured Frankenstein in the upper left corner, reading a book with the title "Marvel Monster Group.") The title was an attempt by Marvel to compete with Warren Publishing's successful monster magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland (FMOF), but with the addition of comics. Simultaneously they were publishing Monsters of the Movies, which also emulated FMOF but did not include comics — only articles and photo features. |
