HOUSE OF HAMMER - the best horror mag ever for me. It was the first time I'd read full reviews of films I'd only heard about ( and many that I hadn't! )

The Hammer comic strips were wonderful ( often based on the original shooting script ). And those Brian Lewis covers were works of art. :)

I remember being quite shocked when I saw that issue, as it was the first ( and only ) not to feature original artwork!

They look really familiar,the cover artwork is great.

The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires is a great cover,i read the comic years before i got to see the film.

Presumably the Comics Code Authority and/or the 1954 Congressional subcommittee hearings prevented blood being depicted as being red in these magazines?

Yeah they pretty much had to play it safe afterwards,I know Vault of Horror #32 cover was changed,meat clever had to be removed for the intial print,but original artwork was used by Gladstone for there repints.

Yeah if I remember correctly was'nt it printed on newspaper type paper,I think the old 2000 AD was as well back then,happy days :)

It certainly was. Many comics were back then, Hulk, Battle etc.

I had every issue of Scream, but sadly no more.
