This is the official thread to talk about Shameless' release of Cannibal Holocaust, so please use other areas of the forum to discuss other releases and films.

Thank you.

That's okay, I know how easy it is for discussions to take on a life of their own and suddenly you're talking about something that bears no resemblance to the thread title. As you say, back on topic!

Are there any updates on this release? Has Deodato started on his new edit yet?

I think this is a great title for Shameless to release, and I hope to see even more Cannibal/Jungle films from them in the future.

Yes, Vic, with the recent news on advice received from the BBFC regarding the animal violence, if there really are to be only 14 secs of cuts, then it's time to look at resubmitting other cannibal flicks. If CH only receives these minimal cuts, then Jungle Holocaust would probably fly through unscathed, for one.

But anyway, I digress...

Now I love a good balanced documentary, but I would class these two as sensationalist.

I know that there will probably be some people jumping down my throat for saying the above, but I can tolerate most films and these are in a very rare breed that I found repulsive. Pure exploitation for the sake of it.
Goodbye Uncle Tom is a very interesting and powerful film that makes its point using brutally realistic means. It certainly accomplishes its goal of portraying the horrors of slavery in as realistic a fashion as possible.

Unfortunately, the making of the film is a catalogue of horrors in itself, and probably has no place in this thread. If you aren't familiar with the behind the scenes stuff, look it up, it is absolutely atrocious.

It will be a different film as Ruggero Deodato is re-editing the footage and it will be in high definition. They are the two reasons why I'm going to buy the BD.
