I'm only going by what gummysubstance said. Maybe things are different in the Netherlands, but it's all conjecture until Sarah can confirm or deny whether that figure is accurate.

I'm not sure what the minimum number is, but it is a lot. And the case Shameless wanted costs nearly £5 per unit to produce (it was a metal box rather than a steelbook). That's a lot of money for a company like Shameless which is basically 2 people so there's no way it can be justified if stores won't stock it since high street sales make up nearly 50% of Shameless' sales.

I was gutted myself when I heard but I'd rather do without special packaging than see Shameless go bust!

thats a damn shame that HMV is stopping Shameless doing this.

could you not do a digibook? that would be quite a bit cheaper.

Might be less than 5, they just don't seem interested in competing with the internet age, I fear for smaller Independents too, 2nd hand shops seem to have stepped in, my local CG type shop told a punter with a bag of mint looking DVDs to sell "we only pay 50p per title on DVD, a bit more on Blu-Ray" A bit more?? Had to laugh at that. Then it made me sad, Odd thing is they have a huge selection so people in financial trouble end up flogging their treasured discs for 50p.

No sweat Sarah, I just want the movie, wouldn't care if it came packaged in a yellow cardboard sleeve, if it's Shameless it's good enough for me( good god, I'm sounding like a fan-boy there) but truth will out.

I'm shocked high street stores make up so much of your sales o_O;; Especially at the likes of HMV style prices. It's a shame, the tin sounds quite interesting, I'm imagining something along the lines of the Anchor Bay limited edition Tins that came with the likes of Hellraiser, Evil Dead II, etc. Or would it have been something more slimline, along the lines of Tartans Limited Battle Royale tin?

You and me both but at least Deodato's carnivorous classic is still heading our way and that's the main thing. Sure, said release is standard Shameless packaging only but the steel tin casing is really not that big a loss for me personally.

Shameless' yello-ray is special enough for me to be fair, NYR stands out far more than any steelbook I have. Shame though as steelbooks are very collectible.

Shameless have decided to go for as many extras as they can afford (based on the fact that high street retailers will stock standard packaging) instead of going for the special packaging so they now can't do LE packaging as well. They just don't have the finances of a major company to take this kind of gamble, especially in the current climate.

It's a real shame but, trust me, you're getting an excellent package regardless!
