I suppose only time will tell and we won't know until we've seen it. However, if it was a real piece of found footage, it wouldn't be in anamorphic 1.85:1 (as it is on the uncut DVDs) so I see no problem in the colours being stronger, flesh tones more naturali and the contrast levels deeper,

I was always under the impression that the animal killing was there but has been obscured slightly by digital optical effects that resembled frame damage and over exposure etc

I saw this new cut at Cine Excess. The only animal killing that has been physically removed is the musk rat, because the BBFC deemed it as genuine animal cruelty. You can still hear it though. The other stuff has been altered optically, showing film damage, etc. It's all there though.

Damns... I was excited to see this one also. Though the missing animal cruelty won't bother me.. I refuse to buy cut films. Cuts = No buy

.. Not that Shameless can do anything about that.

But this IS the cut that Ruggero prefers. He never wanted the animal cruelty in there in the first place.

I'm totally confused now. I thought there were 2 versions - the new Deodato cut without the animal cruelty due to him regretting it, and then the original film, BBFC cuts permitting. It now sounds like the new edit still has the cruelty in.

As i understand it, you hear it in his new version but you don't really see it.
