The Stuff (1985)

One of those films which had a poster artwork far superior to what it was promoting.

A great poster for Claudio Fragasso's Monster Dog (1984) A film i've only seen once on vhs many moons ago. I should really get the Severin Blu-ray.

Here's an oddity!

"In 1981, Ivan Reitman’s 'Ghostsmashers' had nearly been completed when John Belushi unfortunately died and production was halted for a few months. When shooting resumed, Eddie Murphy, John Candy and Paul Reubens were unable to reprise their roles due to other contractual obligations (because of Beverly Hills Cop, Splash and Pee-Wee’s Big adventure respectively)

Their roles were recast and the movie was finished as 'Ghostbusters'

Promotional materials have now surfaced from the vaults of Columbia Pictures."

More info about 'Ghostsmashers' can he found here

That's just fan art, Susan. Very good fan art at that.

Your text doesn't correlate with the link either. You say "In 1981, Ivan Reitman’s 'Ghostsmashers' had nearly been completed when John Belushi unfortunately died and production was halted for a few months. When shooting resumed, Eddie Murphy, John Candy and Paul Reubens were unable to reprise their roles due to other contractual obligations (because of Beverly Hills Cop, Splash and Pee-Wee’s Big adventure respectively)

However the info page you posted says In late 1981, Dan Aykroyd began writing his first draft.[5] Work on the script was slow and steady over the next few years due to other projects Aykroyd worked on. On March 5, 1982, while he was writing one of Venkman's lines, Aykroyd heard Belushi had passed away

Beverly Hills Cop was 1984. Three years later than you are suggesting. Plus John Candy was nowhere near as large as that poster depicts. He was in Stripes at the time and doing army physicals.

I agree with, and accept everything you say, but the first draft of 'Beverley Hills Cop', under the title 'Beverley Drive', was actually written in 1981 and it's possible that Eddie Murphy was under consideration for the film

Consideration is not a contract.

Murphy made three between 81 and Beverly Hills Cop.

Splash was also 1984 though. Candy made five films between 1981 the year this was supposedly shot and Splash coming out.

You've been duped by social media lies i'm afraid.

The text and artwork Susan posted has been around on Facebook for a few months but, as Demdike says, the timeline doesn't match reality. It probably dates back to May, when someone called Ivo Mulder posted it in the Midjourney Official group with other AI fan art. Eddie Murphy doesn't have the trademark gap in his front teeth and the third image looks like a weird blend of Ivan Reitman and Alex Wolff!

An incredible British quad poster for 'The Creature From The Black Lagoon' (1954)

Bet that gave the kiddy-winks nightmares back in the day!
