I never saw it but I think that was the 30th Anniversary Edition. Pretty dire apparently.

The Elite release is probably the best, though I kept the Cinema Club release with the excellent Reflections Of The Living Dead documentary.

Do you think if they resubmitted Day of the Dead for its BluRay release it would be downgraded to a 15 cert Vince.?

I watched the dvd upscaled recently and you could see what looked like a strap round the gator's jaws as it left the building with the zombies.

I recon Day would get a 15 easy enough by todays standards .

I would still rate it 18 myself though it's a close one.

It's amazing to me how much movie ratings have changed over the last decade in the post-Ferman era. Personally I think they've gone a bit too far - though I welcome the downgrading of older films that don't cut the mustard at 18 these days, I still think films like Day of the Dead should stay at 18. Even something like Don't Look Now, because of the explicit sex (not the gore). If the 15 was a 16 I'd probably feel a bit differently.

I do wonder if a change of government would lead to more restrictive censorship again. Recently there has been some talk of closing the loopholes in the Exempt classification.

Sounds like it might just happen. It will be very disappointing if the BBFC are forced to start cutting films again like they did pre 2000. It's definitely not something they would want to do.

David Cameron has already said that he would take a closer look at the BBFC. Sounds like trouble to me.

If Cameron attempted to force the BBFC into tougher censorship it would result in people buying more films from abroad. Thus hammering another nail into British industry.

He would achieve absolutely nothing except to damage UK film sales.
