Pity, as the Tartan release is fantastic otherwise.

The (uncut) Odeon reissue is messy in comparison. No trailer or info, and the only extras are a short film about how to carve a roast turkey properly (!) and a brief unrelated snippet of a bound woman being electrocuted with a car's jump leads.

I had both but settled for the US Image release in the end (which also has the turkey short on it).

Thanks for clearing that up, Vin. There seems to be a lot of misinformation out there regarding what the official 'nasties' were which causes much confusion. I'm surprised, like you, that it didn't make the official 39 though, as it's certainly one of the most gore-drenched films that was about at the time!

You're right too, as to how many titles escaped ending up on the list, ones that surely would have had Whitehouse and crew trembling with fury. Guess they weren't clued up enough, they should've asked our advice, Vin.

The best of those for me are Night Of The Demon (simply for the daftness of it all) and the excellent Nightmare Maker (one of the best of all the nasties).

I Miss You, Hugs And Kisses is completely out of place on the list. Most of the film is a dull courtroom drama with the violence mostly seen in flashback.

The Devil Hunter, Frozen Scream, Revenge Of The Bogey Man, Love Camp 7 and Human Experiments are just dire.

No sign of either in the UK alas. Other than the old pre-certs Nightmare Maker has yet to receive a UK release of any description (it was rejected for video as The Evil Protege), and the only release of Night Of The Demon was Vipco's massacred video print (also used for DVD).
