Finally, after 35 years the progressive stalwarts at the BBFC "un-banned" (is the word I've seen used...) Mothers Day! Yay!! See, proof positive that they are so much better than they used to be. But no... Not really. for although it took longer than some of you have lived for to "un-ban" a horror comedy, they are still hacking an' slashing away at fantasy films. To wit; (Melonfarmers ref.) House on the Hill is a 2012 USA crime horror by Jeff Frentzen. Starring Naidra Dawn Thomson, Shannon Leade and Stephen AF Day. Youtube link BBFC link IMDb 3.3/10 UK: Passed 18 for strong violence, sexual violence after 7:12s of BBFC compulsory cuts for: • 2015 Lighthouse/New Horizon Films R2 DVD at UK Amazon released on 19th January 2015 The BBFC commented: • Cuts required to remove or reduce scenes of sexual and sexualised violence. Cuts required in line with BBFC Guidelines, policy and the Video Recordings Act 1984. Based on a true story, HOUSE ON THE HILL is a true crime melodrama with strong horror elements, chronicling the outrageous 1980s murder spree of serial killer Leonard Lake, who would target, kidnap, rob and kill people -- and even whole families. Sonia, the only survivor of Lake's killing spree, teams up with a private investigator to help him locate a woman who disappeared into Lake's compound. In the process, Sonia recounts the horrors of the house, where Lake and his accomplice would force her to videotape the killings. 7 minutes.... Good for them. They're only doing it to protect us from people like MTDS and Ron.... and probably Demdike too. Especially if they own dogs. On another topic Channel 4 put out a longer version of the new Evil Dead movie. Details of extended scenes in the Evil ... - IMDb Wonder if an extended version is on the books? |

Yes the only reason VERONICA GUERIN received an '18' in the UK was Gerald McSorley's use of the 'C' word several times as he attacked Cate Blanchett.

Hate crime is a thoroughly nasty little film that was actually unpleasant to watch. Banning it seems pointless perhaps but I can see why the BBFC got son upset. That said, Manchester council okayed it for a screening at Grimm up north a few years back.

Is it nasty due to artistic reasons or shock value? Not that I have any desire to watch it, the little MTDSs are of Jewish heritage.
