Anyone a fan of Eight Legged Freaks? Censorshipwise it was rated higher than Arachnophobia. The Giant Spider Invasion was heavily cut for an 'A' though now uncut for DVD as a 15. |

I didn't mind Eight Legged Freaks as it was quite funny and the spiders were more effective than in Arachnophobia. I haven't seen The Giant Spider Invasion, but one now added to my 'to watch' pile!

It features a new breed of arachnid. The Hairy Volkswagen Beetle Spider. |

I remember reading a review of it in House Of Hammer magazine and it showed a photo of the Volkswagon spider chasing a crowd of people most of whom, if you looked really closely, were laughing. A bit like the cinema audience ( all four of us ) |

Carquake was also known as Cannonball, and it's terrible under any title. |

No offence, but I wish I was old enough to have seen those in the cinema. I sometimes wish I was my parents' age as they were around to see things like The Exorcist, Don't Look Now (which my mum saw and, following someone's advice on the way in, closed her eyes on Mrs the ending!) and A Clockwork Orange (which my dad saw before Kubrick withdrew it). It isn't the same seeing them on DVD and I'm glad I got to see The Exorcist when it was rereleased in 1999. I'm a sucker for terrible films, so might check those out.

No other viewing of the film ever made such an impact as the cinema one. |
