Meet the Feebles, aahhh....if only that had won the oscar....ahem. With rulings like the ones discussed above, they undermine what little "authority" (cough, cough) they ever had, fawning to the establishment whilst preventing me from watching THC2 in the comfort on my own sandbox

Today is a sad day for horror fans in Germany, as "Hostel Part II" got joined by another modern mainstream horror franchise entry on the list of "BANNED MOVIES": Believe it or not, they got the "unrated" version of "Saw VII" this time around! Saw 7 ist bundesweit beschlagnahmt (Schnittberichte.com) |

The newest censorship madness from Gemrnay in a nutshell: "Isle of the Dammed" (!) Has been BANNED and the first legit German release of Dario Argento's "Tenebrae" after its banning in the 80's lost around 2 minutes..... scoring an "FSK 16" (!!!) at the ratings board... Thanks to the net and their Austrian and Swiss neighbors, the efforts of the German censors to keep people from watching what they like have really become more of a ceremonial, empty exercise... Still, if you just want to RENT uncut genre fare in Germany, you certainly face quite a problem.... |

Well, it HAD TO HAPPEN at some point, but now the "winner" is settled, the first pair of "original" and "remake" which managed BOTH to get banned in Germany- and as the update just joined the list, I'm proud to announce the outcome... It's- probably not surprisingly- both... "I spit on your Grave" flicks. The next likely remake to get banned is - more surprisingly- "My Bloody Valentine 3D", which has been roasting on the notorious "B-List" of the dreaded "Index" for further examination by a court/judge... (The orignal "Valentine" featured on the "index" for many years, but was taken off the list a while ago... No surprise there really, as it is the almost bloodless "Paramount Cut") |

its all crazy with the BBFC over the years with the unnecessary upgrading of films - dumb rules i saw THE BLACK WINDMILL when first released with the old A cert now its a 12 JAWS was also an A and again now a 12 - i don't know if this has something to do with the extras, extra scenes etc SWEENEY 2 was given the old AA but since released on video and now dvd its an 18 etc etc |

I picked this book up over the summer and it's a highly recommended read... Legendary British censor John Trevelyan spills the beans on the films that passed thru his office during the 60's (before retiring to avoid the shitstorm of The Devils and Straw Dogs and so on...)

I was always amazed SWEENEY 2 never got an 'X' in the first place as I always thought the first film deserved an AA more & that remains an '18' on dvd.
