Always found it odd why the German film board is so censorious. During the late 70s/early 80s the German appetite for bloody cinema movies was one of the reasons Italians were so prolific in their output. So why the need to try and curtail things so?
The Germans also make some of the hardest porn out there.... not that I would know anything about that, ahem...

As they said on South Park whilst looking round some German porn sites, "Jeez, what the hell is wrong with German people?"

In any case (as has undoubtedly been said elsewhere), you can simply get your uncut goodies next door in neighbouring Austria, or simply download straight off the net. Which begs the question, what do they think they are trying to acheive?
Well, the popularity of the Italian "zombie" movies, particularly on vhs tape in the early 80's, was one of THE main reasons why all the "video hysteria" broke loose in the German media.

As for the other point: They don't acheive anything reagarding the horror fan base, but they certainly do their best to keep the "strong stuff" out of sight and reach of the "average punter", who'll unknowingly pay good money for a butchered "FSK approved" version of the likes of the "Hostel" or "Saw" films.

How do people think the upcoming Bava titles will fair at the BBFC. I can see Black Sunday staying a 15, but what of I, Vampire and Lisa and the Devil/ House of Exorsicme? My Kino BD of Lisa and the Devil has yet fo be watched.

MASK OF SATAN will probably be a 15, though I'd personally give it a '12'. Haven't seen 'LISA' for ages but can't really remember if featuring anything worth of an '18'.

Well, "Lisa" is an "FSK 16" in Germany, though the sensibilities of the BBFC differ quite a lot compared to the stuff which gets the German watchdogs howling.

SWEENEY 2 was given the old AA but since released on video and now dvd its an 18

I can see you're no longer with us James but the answer to all this is really quite simple...When an older film is re-classified it will be subject to the standards currently operating. What may have been acceptable with an A or AA may not necessarily be acceptable today. Though mostly films are downgraded.

Shouldn't be long until he has the police arresting dogs and cats for murder and rape. What a doofus!

What are people expecting of Dead End Drive I? Never seen it, so will it get the expected 15 seen on the place holder, or is it still to much and will get an 18?
