Good news guys. Recently, it's been announced that I Spit on Your Grave 2 would be released at Frightfest in a special "Festival cut." Obviously, this has lead to people believing it's been cut. But it's not. I contacted Frightfest on Twitter. Here's what was said-

"@Film4FrightFest What's this "festival cut" of I Spit on Your Grave 2? Is it censored? Are the BBFC at it again?

To which they replied with-

"@PeterJohnstonxx It's an alternative cut with different footage for festivals."

I then said-

"@Film4FrightFest Okay sweet. was worried it would have problems like the first one and A Serbian Film."

So it's unscathed for it's Frightfest premier. The DVD may well be another story, but we can hope for the best.

I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE 2 | British Board of Film Classification

"This film was originally seen for advice in an incomplete version. The company was informed that 27 cuts would be required across six scenes to remove various elements of sexual and sexualised violence. Without these cuts the work would have been refused a classification. When the completed version of the film was submitted for formal classification, all the requested cuts had been made, and the film was classified 18."

So I've been reading about Men Behind the Sun and this scene regarding a cat. I've not seen it but to those that have, can someone confirm whether or not the scene is fake or real. Opinions on this seem divided on other sites but many of you here are experts with censorship etc so I was just wondering...

T F Mous has come out with a statement saying the cat scene is faked. Full stop.
However the cat is freaked out a bit!!
If you look closely you will see the cat has syrup splattered on it and the rats are licking it off, not biting. The cat is not impressed but not hurt either.
The scene is nowhere near as bad as you think it might be.
The rumours about this film were/are legendary. Real autopsy on retarded boy, real cadaver used to blow the lower intestine out, cat eaten alive by rats, etc, all bull hickey but did bring the film to the attention of people.
I did a (not very good) review of it in the Cult Labs Members Reviews thread a while ago.

Edit; Yes, I'm sad. http://www.cult-labs.com/forums/memb...w-club-96.html

Just dropping out of lurk mode to respond to this.

I believe they did indeed use a real cadaver for the autopsy scene, I have the Dutch disc from Shock which contains an interview with the director. He says they got the police surgeons to dress up in the same costumes as the people in the movie and filmed them autopsying a young boy.

The other scenes, as you rightly pointed out, were faked though. For the intestine blowing scene, I think they used a cows intestine which was coming out of the floor below the actors body, they just used a compressed air line or something to blow stuff out of it.

You can read it here. T. F. MOUS - THE MAN BEHIND THE SUN

An article on new BBFC guidelines which is frustratingly vague.

BBC News - BBFC to scrutinise impact of horror films

The press seem to have picked up on horror films but reading the story it seems like the PG - 15 certs that are being reviewed not the 18 which all true horror should really have.

It does seem that the real bone of contention is the 12A certificate, and I guess whether films which leave so much to the imagination and can have a long-lasting effect (such as psychological horrors) should be classified higher due to the theme rather than content.
