When were Shogun Assasin and XTRO video nasties?
Or is this films which MAY have been tampered with by the DPP at one point?

They were both once on the list. I know Xtro was taken off it (but was still on it) not sure if 'Shogun Assassin' came off it. But it was on it

Shogun Assasin was taken from VIPCO'S warehouse and then returned which prompted the slycat marketing dept at VIPCO to splatter PREVIOUSLY BANNED on their videos!
So it is any film which faced prosecution at some point or another right enough?

Yeah mate, but I'm commenting on the 'give VIPCO an inch and they take a mile' marketing policy-they certainly knew how to use something like that to their advantage!
I'm currently reading 'See no evil' and what the fuzz and HM Customs did to people and businesses was absolutely shocking!
Having dealt with customs,I know where these people are coming from-they are certainly not people to be messed with!
Anyway mate,if nasties is your thing, then you MUST get a hold of this book-you'll find it fascinating.

This was a great shopping list at some point in my collecting career, but by now most of the really good stuff is already gracing my shelf...though I'm still in anticipation of the "Code Red" DVD of "Nightmare" and decent releases of "Absurd" and "Night of the Demon" would be still very much appreciated by me- if they ever surfaced.

I might add that some of these could still use a decent R2 presentation...."Don't go in the House", for instance, has only had a DVD release in the states on R1. Just a thought...

Spoiled for choice but Fulci's Beyond is certainly a great film & Shogun Assassin was well edited from two Lone Wolf & Cub movies and I thought the added score was surprisingly good.I also have a soft spot for Gentle Ben in evil mode in the grisly Evilspeak (the first uncut nasty I bought on video)I also regard Dead & Buried as an underrated gem & of course TCM is still effective now & remains Hoopers best film (though The Funhouse is also good) in a very patchy career.
