Funny thing is for years i did'nt understand why the bbfc cut horse falls because i had never seen an illegal fall. And then i saw A Man Called Blade and i was shocked.

Sometimes the actual cuts are done very badly (Ulzana's Raid and the Conan films spring to mind) but often they're edited so well that they're barely noticeable.

Yes, you can tell Navajo Joe has been cut. But like you said they are barely noticeable you cant tell anything has been cut from Keoma.

The bbfc say they cut a cockfight from Navajo Joe but i cant think of any part of the film where one could be.

Compare that with the original cinema cuts and the BBFC have come a long way.

The Horse fall cut from Tom Horn is quite bad The film that contains the most cruelty involving horses was The Charge of the Light Brigade (1936) where over 200 horses were killed. |

I could be wrong but that has never been cut by the bbfc has it? I know the remake was.

The original version was cut by the BBFC in 1936 but we will never know exactly what those cuts were because the file listing the cuts is lost forever. But I think it's unlikely to have been horse falls. What is surprising is that the BBFC passed the film uncut in 1986 for video, this at a time when they had started cutting horse falls quite regularly since 1980. Well there's no question the film would require extensive cuts today. |

Yes it's probable that the video of Light Brigade could well be the only complete version of the film that may ever be released in the UK. The clifftop horse jump in the original Jesse James was probably the most infamous. |

The one in Jesse James is just awful.
