Well... I've finally taken the bait.
After ages of deliberating whether or not to start buying Shameless DVDs I've started. My local HMV is one of the closing down ones and they have 50% off all horror DVDs. I picked up all these Shameless releases for 3.50 each: Torso Phantom of Death The Frightened Woman Flavia The Heretic Designated Victim My Dear Killer Night Train Murders Oasis of Fear Ratman Watch Me When I Kill Some are double dips, some treble, some I have on BD as well as DVD. So now it looks like I'll have to pick the rest up to get the spine logo image on my shelves All I have to do now is find the time to watch them. It is ages since I bought a DVD, I forgot how big the cases are |

I was a little surprised to see them at that price. I didn't buy straight away, I went home and read up on Shameless releases first. Then I went back and pillaged the place The Mrs shook her head at all the boobies on the covers but she should be used to it by now |

Id say... Torso ~ superb! Phantom of Death ~ good (though I hear they are releasing a version with new cover art very soon ). The Frightened Woman ~ I own it, but not seen. Flavia The Heretic ~ not my cuppa tea, I was bored. Designated Victim ~ decent loose remake of Strangers on a Train. My Dear Killer ~ not seen Night Train Murders ~ not seen Oasis of Fear ~ damn boring Ratman ~ not seen Watch Me When I Kill ~ average, I was disappointed.

You got a good selection Slim, some are better than others of course. Torso has it's moments, The Frightened Women is rather good and looks stunning, Night Train Murders I've always thought is overated, Oasis of Fear I think I fell asleep watching - twice and Ratman. Well Ratman is cheap, tacky fun if nothing else.

Torso - Superb Giallo from Sergio Martino. Sleazy, violent and intriguing. A definite winner. Phantom of Death - Strange film from Deodato in which Michael York keeps turning old. There's an hilarious sequence where Donald Pleasance is running around shouting 'You ****ing bastard!' The Frightened Woman - A very unusual film that has as its theme the matter of sexual politics. Very interesting and a firm favourite. I thought it was brilliant. Flavia The Heretic - Medieval drama that seems to have an undeserved reputation for being excessively violent and nasty, which it isn't IMO. It's worth at least one watch, but I did find it a bit slow. Still enjoyed it though. Designated Victim - Absolute stunner of a film that I loved from start-to-finish. Tomas Milian is on top form and the way the story unfolds is masterful. Unmissable. My Dear Killer - Giallo in which there's some unusual murders (death by JCB?) and a fantastically violent buzzsaw kill midway through that really jolts you and wakes you up. Night Train Murders - A sleazy spin on Last House on the Left, but on a train. It's not really as harrowing as it's made out to be, but I'm sure it'd still be offensive to certain viewers. The opening song by Demis Roussos is probably the scariest thing in the film. Oasis of Fear - Not seen yet. Ratman - Not seen yet. Watch Me When I Kill - Decent Giallo, as I recall. Been a long time since I've seen it, I'll have to dig it out again for a watch.

It needs to be edited into some kind of shouty comedy video along with the clip from Pieces ("Bastard!!! Bastard!!!...") . . .

Torso- Sublime trashy giallo from Martino. One of the best reprisentatives of the genre's lesser known stars. Phantom of Death- Somewhat odd gem from Deodato, certainly not what it would have you believe from the cover. The Frightened Woman- Hands down, my favourate Shameless title. A corcker of a film and amongst my 50 favourate films of all time. Highly reccomended. Flavia The Heretic- Not seen, nunsploitation is a bit boring tbh but I do like a bit of period exploitation. The Designated Victim- Second or third to Femina Ridens and Footprints as my favourate title from Shameless, a classic retelling of Hitchcocks masterpiece and a stunning film unto itself. Essential viewing. My Dear Killer- Middle of the road giallo, I do enjoy some aspects of it but's it's by no means a classic. Haven't seen itin some time so must give it a re-watch. Night Train Murders- A relatively 'fresh' retelling of Last House on the Left but it isn't quite as uncomfertable or at time's bizzare as that film. Oasis of Fear- I quite like it, its 'soft' sleazy but fun. Ratman- Pure trash and I'm in the minority of people who adore this film for what it is. Watch Me When I Kill- Love this lesser known giallo, light on gore but very well filmed and with some genius death sequences. A good haul in all.
