never with sleeves. The only time I ever felt self-concious buying something was when the newsagent tried to hide my copy of dark side magazine in my copy of the independent as if I was buying a porno mag!

Actually I used to work in a now long gone dvd/cd store and we started selling soft smut like ben dover. The covers were filthy, and every single person was nervous who bought them. Perhaps that was part of the thrill for them.

No, I've never felt embarassment in that sense.

I work in blockbusters. Many moons ago we used to stock soft porn dvd's to rent and buy. Tragically we had to say the title aloud to the customer before purchase due to the high number of chancers returning stock saying they had been given the wrong item. This caused some problems as you can imagine. Generally the people buying these things tended to be nervouse overweight 40 year olds who react badly to being embarressed. in nine years time i'll be an overweight 40 year old so I need to start thinking about that soft porn collection pretty soon. I bought erotic witch project from a charity shop a few days back so thats a start I guess!

I remember when Blockbuster had soft porn.

Me and a few friends felt no shame in renting Muffy The Vampire Layer.

(to be fair though, it was a snoozefest)

I can remember one of my friends being too embarrassed to buy one of the Emmanuelle films from HMV. I had to buy it for him.

Like others though, I rarely get odd looks when buying anything, as 99% of my purchases are online. Although, I'm sure Amazon etc. have a 'odd-list' for people who order 'weird' DVDs; and I will no doubt be on it!

No-one should feel embarrassed about buying the films/mags they like, though. It's the people who judge you when you buy it that have the real problem, imo.

I remember when I was 18 I spent about 2 hours pacing up and down HMV trying to work up the courage to buy the Anchor Bay's first Franco box.

Now I'm not really bothered though.

On the subject of Mags some of the looks I get when buying Bizarre are hilarious. (except in shops like Forbidden Planet who aren't really arsed)

Was that due to the cover or the director!
