Top 10 Collectable DVD Labels An article from KillerReviews.com posted earlier this month runs down the top 10 most collectable DVD Labels. And none other than our very own Shameless Screen Entertainment made it onto the list :woot: In a predominantly American list of labels, this just goes to show how great the Shameless releases are. I'm personally not sure about the order, but what do you think? I think a Shameless Celebration is in order! |
Good article that. Surprised at the absence of Arrow to be honest - they seem like such an obvious choice for such a thing, |

No sign of Arrow in the list. Although, to get a UK label amongst such US time-tested heavyweights like Midnite Movies, Something Weird, Synapse, and Blue Underground is definitely a great achievement. For lazyness sakes, here is the second part of the list. |

Arrow may not have featured as they tend to be more geared towards BD, with few DVD only releases and many titles appearing on DVD later than the BD equivalent. Plus the revamped Arrow Video we know of and love today are a pretty new outfit when compared with the other labels listed. Or, it could just be that the blog author either hasn't sampled Arrow's goodness, or just doesn't rate them as highly as the other labels! |
Never noticed there was a next page. On here using my phone. |
I personally would have put Shameless before some of the others. I do rate Midnite Movies very highly though. |
Makes a mockery of Code Red's boss and all his rants if the US market see's them as a highly collectable label. It gives a bit more weight to the poor marketing and distribution arguments which they strenuously deny. |
Wot, no Vipco????? |
I'd say X-Rated Kult were one of, if not the most, collectable company around. |

Subjective, but I also see BFI as a 'collectable' DVD label, and would probably have put them near (if not at) the top. Ditto Eureka. |

Artwork is key; discs are secondary.  CMV, XT, '84 Entertainment, Dragon etc. could also fit into this bracket. |

No, X-Rated are way more collectable. You could easily fill your Arrow, BU, Raro or Shameless collection's but X-Rated, with their 4 different hardboxes for one title, small hardboxes, regular amaray editions and the limited 300, 99 & 33 editions, are for real hardcore collectors. There must be well over 300 of them, some of which have never been released anywhere else. It'd be next to impossible to get them all. |

Some stiff competition there! I wouldn't rate SWV as high as that though...... |
No Arrow Video / Arrow Academy and no X-Rated? Bloody hell, most forum members and Mr Bethmann/Bertucci will be fit to be tied! :mob: His list ain't too bad, though. Blue Underground, Roger Corman's Cult Classics, Shameless, Criterion, Something Weird, and Midnite Movies would be among my picks as well. And...of course! Synapse... if only because of their release of Radley Metzger's The Image on Blu-ray! :faint:    :faint: Greetings! |
Great list, and I'd definitely add Noshame to that list, as well! :) |
No 23rd Century? :) |
No Eureka/Masters of Cinema? I know it's a genre list, but if you're going to stick Criterion in there.... Also, I'm a fan of Tartan Asia Extreme, but I do appreciate that sometimes the transfers are ropey! |

Are Cornerstone at number 11? |
No, Hardgore are :p |
For sheer volume,Optimum and Studio Canal should be in the top 20 anyway. Was Anchor Bay mentioned? Easily the best label of the late nineties and noughties. |
No Artificial eye? |
