Well indeed. We are going to put cut clips on the site - it's on the 'to do' list! I'm fed up of people being able to order full import versions from UK sites. That said out of the first 12 releases two are cut and we've got five breakthrough first time uncuts so things are moving on.

Damn right, it's an impressive track-record for sure. Hopefully it shows that the BBFC have matured and realised that these films are as old as them and are just plain fun, not matter how questionable some subject matter may be! ha.

Well the question is do we then seriously look at such notorious titles like CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST and THE HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK?

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST? Not a hope in hell for the animal scenes alone. THE HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK? it sure isn't pretty, but there is nothing overly graphic in there. But I'm guessing they will base their final judgement on "taste" rather than what is being shown. When was it last submitted? Don't they have a crappy 10 year rule? |

dont bother with cannibal holocaust no, wasting your time. the grindhouse 2 disc is probably the way to go on that one and as for uk releases i am sure there are vipco's floating around. The beauty of shameless is it is breaking ground already- getting things out uncut for the first time. shameless as nothing new to offer on the cannibal holocaust front, as bbfc aint going to budge on cotimundi and turtle. and it may well cost an arm and a leg to secure anyway, especially a there isa remake in the pipeline that will spark renewed interest. it is certianly a prestige title though, just i would only buy one to keep my spine message from saying shamles or hamless or whatever, as for house at the edge of the park maybe able to help on extras front there but if you still have my email the better discuss that off forum- my contact incidentally has a question about extras for you anyhow, hes up for the idea we discussed in the past.

Ex-Vipcowise Cannibal Holocaust would pretty much end up with the same cuts as before (5½ mins). I couldn't see anything being waived from that. Even the non-animal cuts (the rape scenes and the mudball/dildo scene) would end up cut. Cannibal Ferox would also restore some scenes (Radice's death for one) but the animal killings would go. The breast impalement may be slightly restored but probably not by much. Vipco pre-cut the film last time. House On The Edge Of The Park would definitely end up being far less cut (11½ mins was crazy by any standards) though it would still lose about 3-4 mins depending on how good the editor is. Of the original cuts the razorblade slashing and rape scenes would be the problem again. The head-bashing cuts would be waived. I'm pretty sure Toolbox Murders would get through intact now. Vipco removed too much last time anyway, owing to their clunky editing techniques. |

Just a quickie on this. Phill you maybe a bit young to remember but older members will remember the pre video nasties act. For those of us who only got what the local flicks had to offer or a weekly diet on th bbc's horror double bill (usually hammer plus a black and white b feature) the vhs era was a breath of fresh air. It was unfortunately an era with a christian moralist onservative government who feared what they did not already control- the indie video shops. there you could see turtle guts flop out an eye piercings from fulci. The video nasties act ensued. Despite its many failings out labour government had a minister in charge of film who actually liked films (i believe it was chris smith) and ferman shuffled off to the cutting room in the sky. for those who use phrases like "political corrctnss gone mad" etc when talking about this government, they should remember what the hell was before. this labour government has been great for film (though ****ing useless at almost everything else)l. cat in the brain would not have seen the light of day if it was made in the early 80s along with the infamous dpp list, now its on telly. the one thing we all have to keep eye on is if the tories get back in and we are back to square one- shameless will have to do stuff like On Golden Pond and Champ and we all risk prison for daring to like stuff thats slightly off the mainstream. there was a golden age before the video recordings act but it didnt last for long. Its not that the BBFC have matured but the political pressure has eased a bit.

Aye, before my time I'm afraid! I think the general populace has had a change in attitude towards this stuff too - no doubt in part due to the interest from academics; So the old timers who still like to get a little pissy over it have a harder time bashing it as “commoners” entertainment. Younger blood in the BBFC now too; they can see past moralistic crusades and make a more fitting judgement. Granted, they still play to the moralists every now and then - but I think they have changed along with society – just slowly is all |

As a 40-something I remember the era well unfortunately. During the early 90's I once had the doubtful pleasure of having a telephone conversation with Mr Ferman.
