Default Announcement: Cannonball Run + Cannonball Run II

Hi everyone,

Mediumrare have done it again! Another fantastic cult film is coming out soon, remastered and packed with goodies. These two cult classics have to be some of the greatest comedies ever made - some of the most action packed comedies too!

So, rev your engines and race through the below info on the upcoming releases;

The Cannonball Run & The Cannonball Run II

On Dual Format DVD & Blu-Ray from Monday 30th Nov. 2015.

One of the biggest box office smashes of the 1980s comes to Blu-ray for the first ever time! Featuring one of the most star-studded casts ever assembled, The Cannonball Run is a non-stop, action-packed, hilarious comedy caper that is now regarded as a true cult classic. The sequel The Cannonball Run II, now also being released on Blu-ray & DVD for the first ever time in the UK, delivers more of the same, sticking to the adage “If it ain’t broke…”

Key talent:

Burt Reynolds
Roger Moore
Farrah Fawcett
Dom DeLuise
Dean Martin
Sammy Davis Jnr
Adrienne Barbeau
Jackie Chan
Peter Fonda
Frank Sinatra
Telly Savalas
Shirley MacLaine
Dis Caesar
Tony Danza
Richard Kiel
Ricardo Montalban
Henry Silva
Doug McClure

Phew!

Synopsis:

An illegal coast-to-coast car race from Connecticut to California draws a motley crew of crazed contestants, all with their eyes on glory. Among them is race driver JJ McClure and his deluded superhero of a sidekick, Victor aka Captain Chaos, a couple of drunk gamblers disguised as Catholic priests, a pair of buxom beauties whose charms ensure they never get speeding tickets, an Arab oil sheik, a suave and sophisticated Englishman not unlike a certain well-known spy, and two rednecks with a car full of beer. But just being the fastest isn’t all it’s going to take to win this particular race. Hot on their heels are various law enforcement agencies, as well as the tenacious Arthur J. Foyt of the Safety Enforcement Unit.

You'll Love It Because

What’s not to like? Cars, comedy, crashes, chicks, chaos. A stellar “to die for” cast of Hollywood superstars. The Rat Pack reunited! Burt Reynolds doing what he does best. Jackie Chan’s first American film appearance! It’s just a tremendous, hugely enjoyable, no-holds-barred comedy romp that almost defines the term “popcorn flick’.

Hot Quotes:

“Spectacular car crashes, pursuits, sudden breakdowns and jokes, practical and impractical. Some of it is ingenious, and all of it is breathless.” New York Times

“A real treat. A highly enjoyable over-the-top comedy that delivers.” Digitally Obsessed

“If you like classic, zany, cornball 80s comedies then The Cannonball Run is simply a must-watch.” High-Def Digest

I hope The Cannonball Run has the 20th Century Fox searchlights at the beginning. Dvd releases cut the Fox opening, but the film should start with cars racing around the Fox logo and Burt laughing.

Damn, and I just bought the lackluster Scandinavian release last week of the first film. Not the second though, as I hear there's some serious audio hissing in that one.

Wonder if these are any better? Are there any extras?
