Default stooge

The Stooges come across mad scientists,Mummies, ghosts, gorillas and castles...in these selected shorts.

Dizzy Doctors (1937)
The Stooges get new jobs selling Brighto. Without knowing that it's a medicine, they think it's a cleaning fluid. They accidently take paint of cars and scar peoples clothes and shoes. Once they are aware of what it is, they try to peddle it at the hospital, that is until they find out the head of the hospital is the same guy who just lost the paint of his new car. The Stooges find inventive ways to make it back home before they can be caught by the man.

Three Missing Links (1938)
The Stooges get jobs as actors on location in Africa, after they wreck their boss's office while working as janitors. Moe and Larry are primitive natives and Curly is the gorilla. Curly goes to extreme with special "love candy" from a witch doctor, so he can get the leading lady, but it backfires when the girl gorilla is the one who is now attracted to Curly.

We Want Our Mummy (1939)
The Stooges, who are detectives, are hired to find Professor Tuttle and the mummy of Egyptian King Rutentuten.

Spook Louder (1943)
When the Stooges stumble up Graves the inventor's house as they are attempting to see their weight reducing machine, Graves thinks they are there to take care of his house while he is gone trying to test his death ray machine. Once inside the mansion, thugs hidden behind halloween costumes emerge and cream pies are mysteriously being thrown from the wall.

Idle Roomers (1944)
Moe, Larry, and Curly are janitors in a classy hotel. They are asked to clean one room and inside is Lupe, the wolf-man. Unknowingly, they free him leading to a series of gags with a glassless mirror and Curly trying to calm the monster with a trombone, only to have it smashed on his head. How will they get out of this one? Simple. The elevator.

If A Body Meets A Body (1945)
When Moe reads that Curly's rich uncle has died, and has left his estate to Curly, the buys go there to collect. They find that the uncle was murdered and his body and will are missing.

A Bird in The Head (1946)
A mad scientist needs a human brain to transplant into his pet gorilla, and discovers the perfect speciman in Curly.

The Ghost Talks (1949)
The Stooges are asked to remove an antique suit of armor from a haunted castle.

Scotched In Scotland (1954)
Would be detectives, the stooges get a job guarding a Scotch castle while the owner is away. The servants are crooks intent on robbing the castle of its valuables. Though they do their best to frighten the boys off, the stooges prevail and expose the crooked goings-on.

Creeps (1956)
The Stooges' tell their sons a spooky bedtime story about a time they had to remove a haunted suit of armor from a spooky castle.

Default The Party (1968) (Eureka Classics) Blu-ray

The Party (1968) (Eureka Classics) Blu-ray

This comes out on Blu October 16,Sellers portrayal as the clumsy Indian actor, Hrundi V. Bakshi is both funny but also cringe worthy due to all the usual PC guff, but Sellers knows how to inhabit a character rather than just being a crass impression.

Default The Party (1968) (Eureka Classics) Blu-ray

The Party (1968)
010-the-party-theredlist.jpg

Watching The Party on this newly released Blu-ray,is a nice a revelation,as all of its late 1960's glory comes into dazzling effect, the colors are exceptional bright and lucid, and the picture is sharp and detailed in every way.But then again the film does not have to be watched in hi def to be appreciated, although its not every day we get a 60's comedy released on Blu so its worth getting in that respect, especially with the The Apartment getting re-released soon as well.I said before that maybe Sellers portrayal may raise eye brows this day and age of PC correctness, but I think im wrong in this respect, you would really have to have a major loss of sense of humor to be offended by Sellers character the Indian actor Hrundi V. Bakshi, and since I doubt anyone at the time could name an Indian actor to do the part instead of Sellers then, even that argument would fall flat. You might as well say that why didn't a German or American play the roles he did in Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. What I failed to realize until recently was that the actors were aloud to improvise on set,now im aware of this you can tell that not all the gags work as well as they should but enough hit home to make it funny and there is always something going on in every scene.Of course being the 1960's there's a few cultural references that date it but by and large its a film that stands up to repeated viewing. The Blu-ray is definitely worth the upgrade from the Dvd if you can,not sure if all the extra's was ported over, but theirs about five featurette's on the Blu that came from the DVD release.

Indeed. A very silly film that is a time capsule now ... like The Party, Rentadick, Come Play With Me and many many more.

Default BELOW ZERO

BELOW ZERO.
You would of thought this would of been included on the Snow Dvd,as it plays quite a major part in the film, but you will find this on the Saps at Sea Dvd,where the theme is music.(im sure it all makes sense to who ever put these Dvds together). The film see's are duo busking in the snow while singing the musical ditty "In the Good Old Summertime.",much to the irritation of Charlie Hall who's trying to scrape the snow from the front of his shop, and does not take kindly to the boys musical efforts. Thus ensues a snowball fight.Below Zero has like most of there short films a simple premise, where by the boys seem to jump from one scrape to another,in this case they find a wallet full of money and after they get chased by a thug who wants to steal it from them, they are rescued by a cop, unfortunately what they do not realise is that its the cop's wallet they have found.Below Zero has some nice gags, mostly when there having a fight with a woman who smashes up there musical instruments, although the busking outside an institute for the deaf is a bit corny, but does explain the lack of musical appreciation for the boys efforts..If there is one lasting image I remember when I saw this many years ago as a kid,it was the sight of Stan running around like he has a massive balloon up his shirt (which he did),also the concept of someone drinking a whole barrel full of water really freaked me out when I was younger, then again so does a chimp in a tutu and Olly turning into a chimpanzee or them having there limbs being twisted around by a deranged sea captain Walter Long.
