Default CHINATOWN Roman Polanski 1974

Another seventies classic I watched this week was Polanski's CHINATOWN.
Could this be Jack Nicholsons' finest hour?

Discuss.
Argue.
Stay at home.Don't go to Chinatown.

One of Nicholson's films that never seems to talked about (maybe due to the director) The Shining and One flew over the cuckoo's nest seemed to be a big focus on him. Think with Faye Dunaway's femme fatale character and Jack's suave acting made this a classic with one of the unexpected twist endings.

Yeah,to hell with the director,it's all about Jack!

His performance here is easily equal to Jack Torrance and Randall P MacMurphy.

A lot of Nicholsons' earlier films are superb, that's why it's great to see PH doing them proud.

Another great later-day performance was in The Pledge.

Don't think it's out on BD is it?

Another great performance by Jack, i think it's only available on dvd still, may revisit The Terror later. How come he has seemed to disappear?

What age is he now?

Old Clint is still at it,although I think we may have seen his last performance in The Mule.

It's on Blu in Aus, don't know about elsewhere. Saw it for the first time last year. I liked it, though I must confess I'm not really one for such downer endings.

I read somewhere that he just didn't feel the urge to act anymore. He is certainly 80 odd now.
