The Wild Bunch, the greatest western ever made. Alfredo Garcia is a very close second. Straw Dogs is a very close third.

If you ever get around to it, I highly recommend the UK Studiocanal blu-ray.

I think I read a comment from Richard Harris that Peckinpah promised him Heston's part if he murdered Heston.

And to give Heston some fair due, he threatened to leave the production if Peckinpah was fired.

As for my favourite Peckinpah, I can't choose.

Anybody ever read Michael Deeley's autobiography Blade Runners, Deer Hunters and Blowing the Bloody Doors Off: My Life in Cult Movies? He has some hilarious stories about Peckinpah on the production of Convoy.
