Oooh. I'm ambivalent here. I do own a few repeats. But do try to couple that with something I haven't seen tbh.

"Can't we all just ... get along??" ;)

You're right Demo.:)

So what the hell happened to The Beyond?

No news from Shameless in months.

So much for the May release :tongue1:

Rik 27th August 2019 10:59 PM

I know, I commented on the post on the Shameless Facebook group with a tumbleweed gif earlier today, there’s been no news for weeks now

Steel76 27th August 2019 11:10 PM

Haha, yeah I saw that one :D
I'm the one commenting below that.

They probably ****ed it up, and don't dare to tell us about a major delay, until 2022, or something.

Dave 30th August 2019 07:42 PM

No news is good news.

Steel76 15th October 2019 09:02 PM

So...Still nothing then.
What rock are they hiding under?

How long has it been since they announced The Beyond? Probably by time it will get released I'd be in a rocking chair forgetting what film it was :pound:

Rik 15th October 2019 09:33 PM

By the time it comes out, Arrow with have released Battle Royale 6 more times

It's a strange one - any e-mails I've sent to them over the months have gone unanswered.

Rik 16th October 2019 10:11 AM

Joking aside, even though some of their releases have had errors they won’t correct or have been a bit subpar, I wouldn’t wish for the company to fold because they introduced me to films I’d never heard of before back in the early days and it would be a shame for a small UK label to close down

Oh dear.:(

JAMIOUSE 16th October 2019 10:25 PM

There’s a very good chance the HMV issue from late last year / early this year has had more of an impact on Shameless than it did on 88 and other boutique labels. There is also the possibility that with The Beyond they’ve bitten off more than they chew.
My issue with Shameless is that their sitting on the UK rights to so many great films, Arrow have put out shiny new editions of Strip Nude and Killer Nun and what do Shameless do reissue their DVDs with a new front cover. If Shameless did close it would open a load of titles to 88 and Arrow who would at least give us HD upgrades.

Susan Foreman 17th October 2019 02:27 PM

Someone on FB asked if Shameless are still in business, and the reply given was:

"YES... and we have lots of exciting Blu-ray releases planned. Sorry for the radio silence. More will be revealed soon..."

So that's that then!

That was very short and sweet

Rik 17th October 2019 03:21 PM

I’m calling bullshit on that, that’s a way of shutting people up for a bit

It’s certainly odd especially as they were going guns blazing on The Beyond back in April then absolutely nothing for months. It’s interesting they say their working on numerous blu ray releases, I wonder what titles they are.

Steel76 17th October 2019 10:44 PM

"More will be revealed soon..."?

That's kinda what they said in April, and then nothing for months.

Bet they will go below the radar for another 3-6 months, until we hear anything again :D

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 2nd November 2019 01:12 AM

With Arrow releasing Who Saw Her Die? as a US only release no doubt Shameless will be releasing that on over here.

I'd also bet they will do WHTDTYD?, which is another that has an Arrow US only release.

bleakshaun 6th December 2019 05:27 PM

Well here we go
THE BEYOND has arrived and is shipping NOW!

Shameless proudly presents Lucio Fulci’s THE BEYOND aka ‘L’Aldila’ from a new 2K scan.

We apologies for the massive delay between our announcement earlier this year and the release. This is due to the fact that the original delivery materials were inadequate and we had to wait for a new 2K scan. The silver-lining is that there was the discovery of the original colour camera footage which was scanned in 2K and restored for the first time ever.

Format: numbered, limited edition Blu-ray (3,000 units)

Release date: 13 January but available from us direct NOW

Order direct: http://bit.ly/SHAM224

When jaded New Yorker (Catriona MacColl) inherits a New Orleans hotel, she calls on composed local doctor (David Warbeck) to contain the inexplicable and increasingly gory accidents that are plaguing the building and its grounds. But soon the Gates of Hell themselves open under the hotel, rendering their fight futile as the dead emerge to walk the earth in Fulci’s masterpiece of metaphysical horror The Beyond.

NEW EXTRAS:

• ‘Emily’s Eyes’ – an interview with Cinzia Monreale (with English subtitles).

• ‘Arachnophobia’ – an interview with Michele Mirabella (with English subtitles).

• ‘Murder, They Wrote’ – a unique interview with scriptwriter Giorgio Mariuzzo on working with Lucio Fulci (with English subtitles).

• Prologue four-way comparison showing the original colour, B&W, standard sepia and the new, fourth-way, a version of toning over colour.

ARCHIVE EXTRAS:

• Sergio Salvati (Director of Photography) feature-length audio commentary dissecting the film - with new English subtitles.

• Catriona McCall and David Warbeck a wonderful lively chatty feature-length audio commentary

• Lucio Fulci banter (short conversation on a film set)

SPECIAL BLU-RAY FEATURE:
For the first time ever The Beyond is presented with four different versions of the prologue, seamlessly branched:

(1) The now accepted standard sepia
(2) The original colour camera footage (restored from a new 2K scan)
(3) The B&W version
(4) A new fourth-way: presented as an homage to Maestro Lucio Fulci and DOP Sergio Salvatti. For this new alternative prologue version we have used the restored colour camera footage as a base on which the toning was applied in reference to known considerations from Salvatti. The result is that the reds of the gore are now strikingly visible and all the light sources such as the torches and car headlights are much more luminous.

The Beyond is shipping from our store NOW: http://bit.ly/SHAM224

PS for our next two releases we're cooking up a special edition witches brew but it's no skin off our shins! Any guesses?

Not enough to tempt me, I’ll stick with the Grindhouse Releasing version, chances are there’ll be something wrong with it anyway

Dave Boy 6th December 2019 07:05 PM

Yep, Arrow version good enough for me.

Medical Kestrel 6th December 2019 07:15 PM

Anyone able to make a stab at what the clues to the next releases are?

Nostalgic 6th December 2019 08:35 PM

I love the beyond, it's Fulci's masterpiece, but every shameless "limited" release has eventually turned up cheap somewhere after i've bought it. 4 versions of the opening, why it's like getting those missing boat frames from ZFE back! Looooollll!!!!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 14th January 2020 01:31 PM

A pretty positive review over at Mondo Digital 👍

The Beyond

SymbioticFunction 14th January 2020 02:39 PM

Whilst Mondo makes no mention of it, I've read a few people saying that the Shameless The Beyond has echo-ey audio. That scares me off from an immediate purchase.

Steel76 14th January 2020 03:00 PM

Yeah, they always seem to **** something up, on all their releases.
Even though the transfer seems to be good, I'll rather wait for a future 4K transfer.

Justin101 14th January 2020 03:21 PM

By the sounds of it, the mono audio has been multiplexed to 4 channels and they are slightly out of phase with each other which is causing the echo. Some have said to downmix to 2 channels if you can and others still are saying that it'll still be out of phase (echoey) but just coming out of 2 speakers instead of 4...

The video looks good, but very similar to the Grindhouse one.

There is apparently another company working on a release in the US so it might be worth waiting.

Rik 14th January 2020 09:20 PM

Knew it wasn’t worth a punt. Speaking of Shameless **** ups, I noticed that Dellamorte Dellamore is on Amazon Prime Video, so I thought I’d give it a watch seeing as their dvd is a stuttering mess (as is the blu ray apparently), watched a few minutes and it’s the same shitty transfer, so that got switched off!

Looks like most of there stuff is on Amazon video .

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 15th January 2020 03:02 PM

I don’t have all those fancy speakers or surround sound systems so it’ll do me until a 4K scan appears in the future.

Susan Foreman 15th January 2020 04:56 PM

I'll stick with my very limited edition Arrow release with the black-and-white opening!

*NEW ANNOUNCEMENT*

FLAVIA THE HERETIC ON BLU-RAY

Release date: April 30

"We are upgrading our best-ever selling DVD to Blu-ray. The heretic has been resurrected!

Director Gianfranco Mingozzi's FLAVIA THE HERETIC is judged the most graphically violent of all ‘nunsploitation’ films, so uncompromising and harsh that it courts the ranks of video nasties while being an undeniably thought-provoking reflection on religious violence and misogyny.

Based on true events from medieval Italy, Flavia (Florinda Bolkan) rebels after being imprisoned in a monastery by her tyrannical father, and joins an invading Muslim army that is retaliating against the crusades. But Flavia’s world becomes filled with murder, rape and torture. Nun, warrior and avenger, Flavia’s will is unshakeable to the death.

Beautifully filmed by Alfio Contini (The Night Porter) with flashes of Jodorowsky-esque surrealism and boasting a score by Oscar-winner Nicola Piovani (Life is Beautiful), this challenging film is released here for the first time in the UK on Blu-ray, uncut and finally doing justice to the searing vision of its filmmakers
"

EXTRAS
- New interview with Florinda Bolkan interview filmed exclusively for Shameless
- New audio commentary by genre specialist Kat Ellinger, recorded exclusively for Shameless
- Extensive restoration work carried out in the UK

Please note this product will not be despatched before 30 April and subject to change, due to the current crisis, so please bear with us...

Flavia the Heretic - Shameless best selling dvd. Who'd a thought it?

I'd have expected it to be Four flies on grey velvet or something seeing as it was hardly available before.

Collectors would have known the cannibal titles would be cut so i'd have ruled those out.

Demoncrat 9th April 2020 08:32 PM

I hated it. School Of The Holy Beast it is not :lol:

Rik 9th April 2020 08:55 PM

No thanks, it was a struggle to get to the end of the DVD, only reason I’ve still got it is so it doesn’t mess up the spine builder
