Deathdream seemed more of a vampire film with a twist than a zombie flick.

Didn't Savini only do the contact lenses used in the movie?

I'm pretty sure he applied some of the make-up too, I seem to remember him saying so in his book 'Grande Illusions: The Art & Technique of Special Make-up Effects'.

Savini was, essentially, Alan Ormsby's assistant on the make-up on Deathdream, applying Ormsby's designs and offering suggestions. There's a nice interview with him on the BU disk. Ormsby had the contact lenses made up by a pro firm. He shows them off in the Easter Egg on the DVD - he's kept them in a box on his desk for all these years!

Definitely a vampire film, by the way!

No mention of ZOMBIE LAKE yet? Sub-plot involving a Nazi zombie breaking off from his marauding mates to take presents to his daughter in a near by village... bonkers.

I know it's utter shite - but there's something about this film i flipping love. Must be the bits Jean Rollin directed or something?

I had the...pleasure...of watching it on the bigscreen at Frightfest the other year - I think it was it's premier. Honestly, I found it very boring but at the same time very interesting. It's by no means an original idea - having a film from the zombie's point of view - and I did find the whole hype surrounding it because it was (apparently) made for £45 confusing. It looked like it was made for that much and again, there's nothing special about that - it's not the only no-budget film!

Mind you, I did buy the DVD

It is British though. It is a zombie film. And it is an independent. So I support it! Last I heard was that Marc Price was making some sort of World War II alien film or something.

I think I watched about ten minutes of it, didn't bother with rest...
