SHAM303: DEODATO - CINEMA OF DEATH - Original Announcement! SHAM303: DEODATO - CINEMA OF DEATH Including Cannibal Holocaust, The House On The Edge Of The Park & Phantom Of Death! Shameless proudly presents the 1st ever Anthology of Cinema-of-Death maestro, Mr Cannibal Holocaust: Ruggero Deodato! Oft imitated but never equaled... Released together for the 1st time ever in this must-have definitive collector’s set, Shameless proudly presents Deodato's 1st and ONLY ever Director's Cut of Cannibal Holocaust (adapted to 21st century sensitivities to animal cruelty, in the director's new edit). The House on the Edge of the Park is a masterclass of explosive direction in cruelty with David Hess ( The Last House On The Left; Hitch Hike giving the performance of his career! Also included here is the very last interview of the late great David). The Phantom of Death shows Deodato dealing with a true but very creepy situation which sees Michael York (Logan's Run; Austin Powers) age rapidly, descending into a murderous madness in a barn-storming performance... The stunning artwork of this limited edition set has been exclusively created for Shameless by top British film poster artist. The Shameless Screen Entertainment of the DEODATO - CINEMA OF DEATH box set is due for DVD release on the 16th June 2014. More details to follow soon... |
I already own all three, so I think I'll pass on this one :) |
Although I own the individual Shameless releases, I also have the other Shameless 'compilation' releases, so will buy this so my collection is complete. I really look forward to seeing the artwork. |
Any chance of resubmitting House at the Edge to see if the BBFC put it through unscathed? :) If passed uncut, the interest would go through the roof! |

Haha, you think with the new BBFC guidlines, it'll ever pass uncut? No chance. |
Its only a movie....... |
what a pain i have all 3 but will get this for completion sake |
I collect all the Shameless films and my collection I consider full if I have each title...thus I won't be buying this because it would never get watched. |

SHAM303: NEW Official Announcement! Quote:
I think it probably hasn't been classified by the BBFC yet, and I'd expect the dvd to be cut (hope i'm wrong though). Local councils have the power to allow films to be screened uncut (if they wish) that have been cut or refused classification by the BBFC. If I am wrong, perhaps Shameless will think about resubmitting the film. |
Thing is these new guidelines are to be fair relatively new so it wouldn't be a bad idea to resubmit HOTEOTP to see where films with similar content stand... And if it passes, I would expect Shameless to try the same with NYR and issue a release (again:)) if it gets uncut. I could see them potentially getting by, NYR more so. |

If HOTEOTP goes through uncut (Doubt it) I'll buy the box. But as I already own CH on both Shameless DVD and BD,Phantom and HOTEOTP on Shameless dvd,I may well pass. Depends on the boxart though!:woot: |
In fact,is House being resubmitted Kyle? Even in a less 'slashed' version would be something. (Especially as I now only own an Italian only BD in the uncut stakes!) |
Any chance of this getting a blue release full stop? |

I don't believe it needs to be re-submitted Reaps, so I'll be the same as the disc that's out just now. |
Oh well, the box art will need to be nice then! |
Presumably Shameless would have to pay the BBFC fee again if they were to resubmit it? |
I would imagine so and I bet it's not cheap either |

Yeah. The robbing bastards should be wearing masks! :pound: |

I just had a look. You pay a submission fee and then a charge per minute of film. A 90 min feature costs........£245 |

Isn't the submission fee astronomical though? Like a few grand? |
SHAM303: NEW Official Announcement! Quote:
I was looking at the wrong part of the site! It's a little more expensive. but it looks like it's £75 submission fee, plus £6 per minute of film, so a 90min on dvd/blu-ray would cost around £610 (unless I'm reading it wrong, in which case, someone hand me a towel to wipe this egg off my face!) http://www.bbfc.co.uk/industry-servi...ion/fee-tariff |
Isn't there a '5 year' rule for resubmitting films to the BBFC, I seem to remember that once a certificate is granted the company has to wait 5 years to resubmit unless they appeal the rating (tho that may only apply if the film is refused) |

I think you're right. I always thought the fee was a lot more as I remember reading about how it was unfair on low budget films who would be forced to pay the same as the big blockbusters. Looking at that a 2 hour film for theatrical classification (which is a little bit different to dvd costwise) would cost just under £1000 which doesn't seem too bad. That said, what happens to the money? Do the BBFC turn a profit? They'd be raking it in! |
