Somebody give me a pasty, because I thought this film was dreadful. I can't even bring myself to give it another go, though I probably should, just to confirm my abiding memory of it's utter awfulness.

So, who wants to trade me one of their "Autopsy" dvd's? Only then can you release "The Spider Labyrinth".

I've not seen Spider's Labyrinth so do send me a copy Jock - highly unlikely it would be SHAM020 because we'd have to track it down etc and that would take ages but we need to look for stuff for 2009. I won't be around much next couple of days but keep this thread buzzing - it's very handy for me when I have to sit down with the other people that make up Shameless. With any luck I'll have some suggestions for next week.

In that case how about Eye in the Labyrinth, which I think has been mentioned before and is gagging for a scrub up, or Death Steps in the Dark, the supposed 'spoof giallo?, which is inaccurate and dismissive of its merits (ooh, get me). Starts like a straight giallo with a curious murder-on-a-train scenario, segues into sleaze n' blackmail territory midway, then finally a bit of an amateur heist caper as everything comes together at the end, all the while taking the business of the black-gloved killings seriously. We even get a glimpse of large intestine at one point. Nicely lensed, great scenery, well-executed murders and features one of THE most disturbing shots in the genre... widescreen lesbian tongues locked together like two gigantic pink slugs having a wrestle.

I enjoyed it anyway.

Almar, sent you a PM.

That Spider Labyrinth poster was EXCELLENT.

Blog with a bit more on it here - seems there is supposedly a US DVD release but it is cut...I'm suspicious about the existence of an official release, there are however a few bootlegs out there.

Count me in for a DVD of SPIDER LABYRINTH

It's a really good film, surprisingly so for an 80's horror! It'd definitely fit into the Shameless canon.

There's a thread here with some screengrabs from the Japanese VHS release.

Nice shots - the cinematography is excellent in this. I've been to Budapest so that perhaps is why I like it just that little bit more, some of the architecture is stunning.

I dunno what type of film Spider Labyrinth was filmed on but I'd say something vaugely cheap as it looks 'older' than the 1988 date would suggest - adds to the general feel of the film quite considerably.

The Japanese VHS also has a trailer for something called 'Party Line' that looks er, interesting. Why do Japanese people get all the good stuff? I wonder if there is a Japanese DVD release of 'Spider...' I was over there last October and could've got one. hmmm.

Now - back to work.
