To begin here's the first of (possibly) many reviews. Kicking off with Lord of the Rings: The Third Age.
A turn based RPG set during the events of the films, you playing another fellowship inclyding men, an elf and a dwarf. Your first character is Berethor of Gondor who travelling through the forest gets wrecked by the Nazgul. He is saved by Idrial - an elf. And then we begin.
At first the main plot is to find Boromir and as the game progresses you get new characters and get to explore known areas. Such as Moria. You also get to battle orcs, wargs, trolls, goblins and also (with help from Gandalf) the Balrog.
As I said earlier it is a turn based RPG, which is great; even though. It does rip of its mechanics from Final Fantasy X. But it does have some interesting features.
The most enjoyable feature is that when you have completed a region and save your game you unlock Evil Mode for that area where you can do battles as the enemies and yes that includes the Balrog.
It's biggest issue is story, specifically in the cut scenes when a character asks a question about motives or is wanting answers then its completely ignored.
Its character progression system is straightforward you win battles to level up and complete quests which gives you points to upgrade attributes. And also during battles you can improve spell skills and weapon skills by using them.
On my current playthrough I've just got through Moria and so far so good.
While there are vastly superior RPGs from this generation, I would recommend this strongly, especially if you are a fan of LOTR.
7/10
