Yeah, I got The Wrestler on BluRay.

The SNK games are definetly gameplay over graphics when compared to Capcoms 2D Fighters , but considering they're hand drawn they can look stunning at times.

Well im off to write and direct this months storylines for the WWE's 3 main TV shows and plan a PPV...lol

Vipco, you are going cheap on me now, I was hoping for some actual, personal thoughts on the film from you. You can do better than this surely?

You must like the film if you own the Blue-Ray though.

Hahaha, I could write a book on my thoughts of that film.

A very true story of many ex 'superstars' of wrestling , certainly a watered down version of Jake 'the snake' Roberts life story.
Look at Jake, former Wrestling Champ, now a drunken , drug fuelled man that still pulls in the fans just to see him preform his sig move, the DDT , very similar to Randy The Ram.

I like the way they filmed in front of real wrestling fans at the old ECW Arena / Bingo Hall during an ROH and CZW joint show in South Philly as it added 'life' to the matches and captured the intimidating environment of alot of Indie Feds . The places these toppled stars now work are pretty scary joints and the film captured this well.

The he use of a real top draw deathmatch guy Necro Butcher in the Hardcore match, mixing real with fiction , added to the realism and the way it showed wrestling for what it is and not what all the WWE 'marks' think it is , the pre match talk between Necro and Randy comes to mind as one example .
It hit on some raw topics such as blading , and matches were theres gonna be blood without holding previous blood tests , and the massive drug abuse that wrestling as a whole had always tried to keep quiet .
I could go on about the toll on family life due to excessive schedules , wrestlers treated as a disposalbe item, tossed away when the fickle fans of top teir wrestling are sold the next big thing by money hungry promoters , even the comparison to porn, but we'd be here all day, and as Pedro says, to many games to play and not enough time.

Overall a very good film that opened up alot of the dirt wrestling tries to hide but it still held back on a few of its punches.

Sorry for the long off topic post.

Nice buy mate.

I agree, "to many games and not enough time." I got SVR, NBA, F1, FIFA and Wolfenstein 3D taking turns and i've still NFS ,and GT5 to come plus I need a good FPS.
I think its time to drop outta the real world for a few months.....LOL

Nice one, I knew that you would have something to say about this film, that's why I asked really. I loved the semi-documentary vibe about this film, which made me invest in the Randy character a lot more than I probably would have otherwise. This added to the realism they were aiming for, and it worked really well. The trailer park, and factory scenes were brilliant, detailing the mundane and repetitive life Randy mainly lives these day's. Well, like a lot of people really, me included. lol I can't watch the part when he punches the meat slicer to be honest. Nasty. Choosing Sweet child o' mine as his entrance track was a masterstroke, at that point in the movie, a brilliant touch there. So Vipco, do you reckon that Randy had that second heart attack then? A sequel would probably spoil it, but I'd definitely watch it regardless. I thought The Wrestler was one of the best films that I've ever seen. I don't watch it too often these day's because I don't want to get bored of seeing it. I would like to play that mock Nintendo "Randy the Ram" game from the film. Maybe they should release it on the Live Marketplace just for fun. Call of Duty 4: Modern warfare is mentioned well in The Wrestler too. A game that I have yet to play still. I will get around to it one day. Trust me...

Yeah, I recon he took the heart attack, drugs kill and wrestling was Randys real drug of choice. It was always gonna kill him, just like it kills them all in the end.

Sweet Child was an excellent music choice for sure.

Oh, there was loads of Randy CAWs complete with Ram Jam finisher available to downloal in SVR10.
SVR11's the same. The comunity can upload any CAW, Story, anything home created on SVR11 really , for anyone to download free. You can even alter other peoples CAWs to suit you. It makes the game huge.

SDVR:I may check out some of those games you mention one time then...
It's a sad ending in a way. Did he die in the ring? Or did he pull through, and make it out of there alive? It's up to us to decide for ourselves I guess, depending on whether or not you are optimistic. There's been a number of Wrestler deaths over this last 15-20 years or so. Heart attacks etc. Grim. The British Bulldog springs to mind, I remember Him well from the W.W.F era. Roddy Piper reminded me of a Randy the Ram a few times on the commentary track for They Live. Worth a listen if you haven't heard it yet.
There's a good chance that the filmmakers got the Guns N Roses track at a discount price because Slash himself was on board working on the score...

So, Vipco, I take it that you didn't go door to door tonight asking for "Candy" then?

Me neither.
