To my mind ordering direct from the label should be cheaper not dearer. Quite a bit dearer in some cases. Sorry i appreciate 88 want and need support but in the real world its just not going to happen when you can walk in to HMV(of all places) and pick up their stuff around £6 cheaper, and thats not including p&p. A quid or two maybe but not that much. I also have to point out that i often would rather pay a bit more to buy a film in an actual shop than order online anyway. And i doubt I'm alone.

I do order from 88 however I'm a little put off when I get to the basket and find not only P&P added (which I expect) but also tax which bumps the price up even further. I know legally they are only required to provide this info at checkout but it would be clearer if the prices on 88's site included tax up front.
I'm fortunate to be able to splash out once in a while in order to support 88 however things like this are off putting.

I ordered cannibal Ferox and the beyond from diabolik 3 weeks ago still not shipped waiting on the beyond to come back into stock. Bit if a pain if it even comes back this week could be another 2 to 3 weeks before the I get my hands on them. :headache:

awful film

got a hypnotically awful film called the hospital, terrible acting and effects , and a really crappy attitude towards women, honestly cant get over how bad it was. On the cover Tony Todd calls it the sickest film since Rosemary's baby I dont know what film he had been watching certainly was'nt this mess.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 20th June 2015 03:20 PM

As I hoped it was, this arrived this morning and, if I don't have time to watch it this evening, I'll do so tomorrow.

£4.00 in CEX. Had been eyeing the Criterion release however it appears this release is fairly loaded so have opted to save my cash. Looking at home I suspect all I need now is the directors cut of Nymphomaniac and I'll have all Von Trier's films.

Maybe Todd watched the uncut version....an extra 17.5 odd minutes.... That's not to say that the missing footage will make it any better but 17 minutes 30 seconds is an awful lot to miss in a 90 minute film....

I agree Boo.

Having seen the cut version and not particularly liking it i still think i might have to get the unrated release.

It's pretty scuzzy cut so i kinda want to see how low they can go.

I have a love/hate relationship with Lars Von Trier's films – I think I've said this before – as I detest the 'Golden Heart' Trilogy (Breaking the Waves, The Idiots and Dancer in the Dark), but really liked the 'Depression' Trilogy (Antichrist, Melancholia and Nymphomaniac), and found the Land of Opportunity films (Dogville, Manderlay) to be bold and fascinating.

If nothing else, he is a gifted and fascinating filmmaker.

I know Mark Kermode has real issues with Breaking the Waves, and to be fair I see his point. I tend to disagree with a lot of the criticism levelled at The Idiots however.

Frankenhooker 21st June 2015 08:15 AM

I remember catching Breaking The Waves on Channel 4 years ago and the film actually making me angry, I was still thinking about the film days later. Von Trier always provokes a response, it's why he's so important in my opinion, there is no indifference, his films always make you feel something.

I agree with Nos, regarding Von Trier's 'Depression' trilogy, a fantastic run of films.

I picked up the Eureka blu ray steelbook at the market a while back for about $8, and absolutely loved Shogun Assassin. Just wished I picked up both the blu ray box sets before they went OOP.

Enjoy, Shogun Assassin alone is a lot of fun, can only imagine what the rest are like :)
