Ah.. those immortal letters.. HD-DVD

I still have some but need a new player for my 30 or so discs that are left one day. The Thing is supposed to be slightly better on HD-DVD actually and it's one I've kept so far.

I'm quite happy, as the two silent ones arrived a lot earlier than expected! :)

Greetings!

Oh yeah, I remember looking at that ad, haha! It's one of those where I'll have to pick one up later as too short of cash. I'm still on the fence about keeping what I have. In all honestly, The Thing is what's keeping them here, haha. I've yet to figure whether I should just get the BD one day cheap as the difference is pretty slight from what I've seen and then figure out what else I'd rebuy.

Finally got round to watching Bridge on the River Kwai last night and it looks loooovely on BD. A great film too, never seen it before and I really really enjoyed it.
The opening credit sequence looked really poor at first and I got worried as to how the rest of the film would look in HD but it really does look crisp and colourful, highly recommended.

I'm going to work my way through the Sony Collector Editions over the next few weeks and as I've already seen Taxi Driver and Stand By Me already (both look superb too) then it's Ghandi next.

Watched Eureka's BLACK SHIELD OF FALWORTH and PRINCE VALIANT recently. Both superb movies and very entertaining to this day. I love the vibrant technicolour productions, the fairly cheesy acting, the fantastic and suprisingly seamless matte artwork of the backgrounds, the villainous James Mason in PV, the heroic Tony Curtis in BSOF, and the good-looking Janet Leigh in both. If you like your old movies then you can't go wrong with these (or Eureka's ALI BABA & THE 40 THEIVES)!
