Haven't really watched any world cinema in a long while and don't own too much of it on blu (have a lot of AE DVDs though) so these may kickstart the collection!

The only one of those I've seen is Of Gods and Men, which I rented from Lovefilm about a month ago. It is an exceptional piece of work with some profoundly moving scenes and I can see why it won the Best Foreign Film Oscar.

I've just realised it didn't win the Oscar for Best Foreign Film - that went to In a Better World - but Of Gods and Men won the Jury Prize at Cannes and was nominated for the Palme d'Or.

Looking forward to seeing that one for sure, it sounds a very interesting premise to base a movie upon, it will be interesting to see how the film deals with the blurry area between religion and war. How the Trappist monks respond to the threat of the terrorists. I'm guessing they choose to shut up shop and remain in their monastery, perhaps burying their head in the sand. If I were in their shoes, and escape wasn't an option, I would probably just hideously drunk on their Trappist ale :p

As for the other 2 films, Juliette Binoche won the best acress award at Cannes 2010 for Certified Copy and Lourdes won the Vienna Film Prize award for best film at the 2009 festival. I'm expecting 3 great films :D To be honest its very rare that I've watched a release by Artificial Eye which hasn't really impressed me. They usually release only the cream of the crop in world cinema terms.

Rec 2 - hopefully will watch it tonight. Watched Chalet Girl last night, not my choice but had a few good bill bailey moments.

Bought Return to Horror High and Elvira Mistress of the Dark from Poundland and Creepshow 3 from HMV for £3. I know it's meant to be awful but thought it's worth a view for £3.
