John Frankenheimer's Seconds came in the post yesterday. A truly amazing and odd film. I'd love to have an R1 copy but it's just too pricey so I'll make do with the Korean region 0 disc.

Having flogged a load of vinyl I decided to splurge on these BDs:-

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg

So far I've watched Imamura's PROFOUND DESIRES OF THE GODS, which was a really incredible experience. It was in parts like watching LORD OF THE FLIES crossed with MOSQUITO COAST crossed with a nature documentary. It looks at the primitive lifestyles of the natives on Okinawa around the time of world war 2 and shows how the commercialisation of the island leads to the debasement of their religion which tied the community together. Its kind of depressing and uplifting at the same time.

Nice selection there, oaxaca. I have four or five Eureka BDs to watch.

That wonderful planet known as Axel has just shipped Blue Velvet, so that will be something well worth waiting for.

Profound Desire... is amazing, I caught it when Sky Arts had their Imumura season. I'm waiting for the dual format re-issue before I splash out on it.

HMV finally delivered my Jackie Brown today, so that's good!
