I nipped into Fopp today to ask them to remove one of those weird red security tags that stops you from opening a DVD case as they neglected to do so on one of my purchases from last week, so whilst I was there it seemed not pick something up so I went for another BFI Flipside BR; Herostratus.
Also my Liquid Sky poster managed to find it's way from the States to these fair shores after I won it on eBay a while ago. :) | I've just picked up my first Second Run release - Ken McMullen's Partition. Needless to say, I am incredibly impressed with Second Run's package for this film after hearing so many good things about them over at the Criterion Forums, and I have their forthcoming Miklós Jancsó box set on pre-order at Amazon. The Cremator has been on my radar for some time, and I plan on collecting all of their releases in the near future. I'm amazed that they manage to put out such nice editions for such low prices. Many of them can be picked up for less than a fiver if you shop around, and even new releases are around the £9.99 mark - the 3 disc Miklós Jancsó is only £13.99, which must be one of the bargains of the year!
I have the old 2 disc edition of Herostratus, and although I haven't had a chance yet to sit down and watch the full film, I have had a quick flick through, and it looks great, with a typically impressive transfer from BFI. |
