Them Hong Kong films martial art films etc that you buy are they region free, 2 or what because some look really good

Most are region free, some are region 3.
If there something that interests you just ask and I'll try to check if it's region free or not. ;)

Ordered Seven Samurai from amazon.com as it came to just over £20 with shipping. Haven't found it that cheap anywhere else.
However, I realised the item cost comes to over £15. Hope I don't end up with a stupid customs charge!

My first ever hong kong blu rays & first ever video CD :D

Haven't bought Chinese Ghost Story 2 or 3 after I bought and watched part 1.

Shame, because it's one of my favourite films. Paid £100 for the laserdisc back in the day and about £50 for the Hong Kong VHS. Still have the HKL DVD and the gorgeous Hong Kong DVD boxset. That's the one you should buy.

A Chinese Ghost Story blu-ray is very very poor, even for Kam & Ronson. Barely better than DVD and in parts it looked VHS.

That's a name to remember. Kam & Ronson. They release very poor Blu-rays, I've yet to see one that was anything other than a DVD quality title. Unfortunately, they seem to be the only company releasing stuff in Hong Kong, so we all have to put up with crap.

Hoping the UK's CineAsia pick up a few more classic titles and get hold of some nice prints, because I really don't want to buy another K&R blu.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I picked up a very nice collectors edition of Assault on Precinct (Three disc BD and DVD) while I was in town yesterday. Not convinced it needed the BD treatment to be honest, but I could't resist.

Is that the German edition?

It looks to be a fantastic release.

A quick scan through CEX's website and spotted these two. Series 1 was £5 series 2 was a tenner. Their both fairly difficult titles to pick up and series 1 at least is an absolute classic of the genre.

Yes. The German edition. It comes in a very nice "Mediabook" with 20 or so pages of pictures and (German) text mainly showcasing the various lobby cards and posters. Its 3 discs, blu, dvd and a third dvd containing some extra features that I haven't looked through yet. Will try and post some pics later. RRP is 22 Euros(about 18 quid).

Thanks for the info. I read two reviews prior to buying which gave the PQ 5/10 & 6/10 so I wasn't expecting greatness, but I was expecting better than VHS quality! :p Couldn't find any reviews on the Chinese Ghost Story 3 blu ray. I got these fairly cheaply so won't be gutted if the transfers are on the bad side!
