They killed the one format that probably would've delivered more catalogue product at an affordable price, then seek to also hinder the format they're supposedly backing?
Because sony prefers the idea of movies on demand, that way you have to pay every time you want to see the movie and it costs them far less to distribute. The truth is once people own a film, it gets harder to get them to spend more cash on the same product later down the line.

Picked up Resident Evil: After Life. Came very close to buying the German Picnic at Hanging Rock Blu Ray book edition, but common sense prevailed (I have it already on the UK Blu Ray and at 30 Euro's - about 25 pounds - its a tad expensive). Was also sorely tempted by the limited special edition steel books of Boondock Saints (together with the excellent documentary Overnight) which at only 13 Euros looks like terrific value.

So why did they go to all that trouble and expense in developing Blu-ray if ultimately they want video-on-demand to be the next step? So they've developed a home entertainment system that they want to fail so that on-demand services can take over? That's a bit weird to say the least - designing a product you want to fail. Utter madness.

I'm betting that these TT titles will eventually find their to way other territories.
