One of Douglas's best performances ever-the Whammy Burger bar scene is classic!

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with this picture? :tongue1: A great performance by Douglas. I remenber going to see this one at the cinema.

I've just ordered the Blue Underground BDs of Torso and City of the Living Dead, plus the new BD of Das Boot. I'm trying to order most of my wishlist at Planet Axel before the 99c shipping ends.

Wish I could do the same Nos. However, I have about 50 titles in my wish-list and am pretty much spent up for this month. I may order a couple more titles before the offer ends though ;)

I'll hopefully have a enough Reward Points to use soon aswell; 20,920 including pending.

My total (including pending) currently stands at 17,940, so I'll look to redeem some of them before the cheap postage ends.

I imagine that was bumped up recently when I ordered three BDs and have just confirmed delivery of Carrie.

Baseball Fury 6th July 2011 12:43 PM

Obsession has been despatched, and i have the feeling that my ladyfriend has bought me the Apocalypse Now set, which is pretty WANG ON.

Especially chuffed with the Salt & Resident Evil: Afterlife steelbooks. They were the last copies in my local HMV & they were part of their 2 for £20 promotion. Winner! :woot:

Actually, there are two different Blu-rays that I know of:

- US - Region A locked - including both the U.S. and the longer U.K. version (the latter with the short Charlotte Rampling appearance) : Amazon.com: Vanishing Point [Blu-ray]: Barry Newman, Cleavon Little, Dean Jagger, Victoria Medlin, Paul Koslo, Robert Donner, Timothy Scott, Charlotte Rampling, Gilda Texter, Anthony James, Arthur Malet, Karl Swenson, John A. Alonzo, Richard C. Saraf

- European - Region B - including the U.S. cut: Fluchtpunkt San Francisco [Blu-ray]: Amazon.de: Barry Newman, Cleavon Little, Dean Jagger, Victoria Medlin, Paul Koslo, Richard C. Sarafian: DVD & Blu-ray

There's also a slight difference in the extras: the US release has at least one additional featurette of about 30 minutes.

Picture and Audio quality are the same - both are more than alright, considering the age of the flick. It's really worth the upgrade to Blu.

The artwork (which I do not like at all - when do FOUR helicopters and that myriad of cars appear in the movie?) is virtually the same in both editions.

Greetings!

Gojirosan 6th July 2011 05:23 PM

Right, that's it, I'm buying a region hackable Blu player next week!

Thanks for the info, Prince.

Vanishing Point on Blu!!!

nekromantik 6th July 2011 06:16 PM

Resident Evil was so bad! and Salt looked even worse
Dont even get me started on Land of the dead!

I was in HMV and was very tempted to pick up Last house remake blu for £6 but I already own the DVD so not sure if its worth double dipping even at that price.

I thought Salt looked terrific with a superb AVC 1080p picture. Resident Evil: Afterlife also looked extremely good and they both have excellent soundtracks. I haven't seen Land of the Dead in HD, so can't comment.

Salt Blu-ray

Resident Evil: Afterlife Blu-ray

I thought Salt was reasonably entertaining, if not a wholly successful spy movie. Resident Evil: Afterlife on the other hand, was complete nonsense from start to finish!

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 6th July 2011 06:34 PM

Great selection. I haven't yet bought Pervert!, but will need to do so in order to complete my set of Arrow Video reviews.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 6th July 2011 06:40 PM

Very nice haul, Gold.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 6th July 2011 07:00 PM

I enjoyed SALT as well.

nekromantik 6th July 2011 07:21 PM

trailer for salt put me off
not a fan of jolie at all and it looked very cheesy.

It's so cheesy that it stinks. However, after a few beers you'll laugh your bum off. Promise! :pop2:

Greetings!

Gold6082 6th July 2011 08:03 PM

I have heard nothing positive overall about Pervert, makes me nervous about this purchase!

bdc 6th July 2011 08:10 PM

Mary Carey is really good in Pervert.

You can only make one mistake...one severe mistake, to be precise... and that is to watch Pervert! in a sober state. ;)

Late at night, with some buddies, after having consumed three movies and two crates of beer it is the greatest idea to watch this flick!

Greetings!

You're welcome.

@ Nos: why do you want the US? Because of Charlotte Rampling? I knew it. :eyebrows:

Greetings!

PS: Check out the Favourite Movie Stills thread. ;)

Joshua 6th July 2011 09:41 PM

I'll be headed to Hastings to pick up House (1977) tomorrow, and I ordered Naked Lunch last Saturday.

I'm not sure why Naked Lunch was $30, but I payed it at any rate.
House is around $21, I think that is kind of pricey too, but okay.
