The real beauty, a revelation for me, was Barry Lyndon. I'd never seen it previously, thinking it would be a period costume, drawing room type bore - I couldn't have be more wrong , it's compulsive, tragic and unique. Kubrick manages to make the distant past, with its weird costumes and make-ups as alien as anything in 2001. As for the music and visual images - simply unparalleled, I would say.

The post came about 10 minutes ago, with Rosemary's Baby (Criterion Collection) and The Devil Rides out.

Black sunday.

Kino's release looks great, but wait for the arrow release, it looks better in terms of extras.

Texas chainsaw 2. (MGM BLU)

Looks great, the HD is a real boon to the films lurid colour scheme and it sounds great as well. There's a fine layer of grain but it looks natural.

I forgot that these arrived earlier this week.

Now apart from the other stuff that is yet to arrive that is pretty much it until Christmas, of course I said pretty much as I know I will order more DVDs! One thing I really want is Singin' in the Rain It was due out in July but was delayed for whatever reason, I just don't know whether to get the standard blu-ray or the 60th anniversary edition, I don't suppose anyone on here has an opinion on that?

I loved Barry Lyndon, didn't expect to it all but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. Usually anything "period" turns me off. (There's a joke in there somewhere, I'm sure...)
