Black crush is when all of the shades of black are "crushed" together to be one solid shade of black. This in turn leaves you with no detail in the darker areas of the picture. So, it means it has no shadow details.

Thanks bdc!

The Argento book is incredible. I had always wanted to get Profundo Argento but wanted to hold off until it was updated. I suspect a lot of people on here have read it already

Hopefully my last purchases for the next month or so. I have so much to watch as it and need to start spending money on Christmas gifts

Ah right, thanks for the explanation. I wouldn't know it if I saw it then. How am I supposed to know if there's meant to be shadow detail or not? It's not something I particularly loook for.

Nice to see people actually sticking caveats underneath their screencaps!

If you own Timecop on Blu, stick it on for a prime example. Although in that case, I believe it was a creative decision (Peter Hyams loves his shadows).

From a French collector... :)

Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (1994) (Tai Seng) only uncut version?

Look here: Zombie Holocaust : Screenshot Comparison

A bit bloody screencapture from Zombie Holocaust, but a perfect example of crushed blacks. You cannot see a single strand of hair of the bleeding guy on the Blu-ray. If you see something similar on films, then it's crushed blacks.

Yeah, I'd read that but since the German dvd was a limited release and it's something I've been dying to see for such a long time I don't think I'll mind too much. I'm really looking forward to seeing it!
