Either way I think we can both agree on a matter for once!

Deadly serious

Why do so many people not like The Lost Boys.

Gojirosan 13th January 2013 03:02 PM

No. It simply isn't possible that anyone could think The Lost Boys a better film than Near Dark. The Lost Boys is rubbish.

I'm onto you, Rik!

Reverse the films and that is my opinion ;)
For me, Lost Boys is one of the films I used to watch regularly as a kid, along with Ghostbusters, The Goonies, Big Trouble in Little China, Gremlins etc. Near Dark I only saw for the first time about 10 years ago and despite owning it and watching it a few times over the last few years, I just don't see what the big deal is, I find it quite boring, but that's just my opinion.
Plus The Lost Boys has one of the best soundtracks of any film from the 80's

Actually, I must confess that I think Near Dark is very over-rated. It veers a bit too close to angsty soap opera at times. Still like it though.

For The Lost Boys I just cannot see any appeal.

In all fairness, despite being about vampires NEAR DARK and LOST BOYS are two entirely different films. Near dark is a modern day western/road movie with vampires playing (mostly) seriously, while Lost boys is a decidedly eighties horror comedy in the mould of a lot of teen/kids movies with vamps added. I think its legitimate to like both films for different reasons.
