I like Romeo + Juliet too. I often get strange looks or giggles when I mention that I enjoy it so I guess that would qualify as guilty pleasure.:noidea: | I think when it came out, because Leonardo Dicaprio was the go to pretty boy actor, even though he had done serious films, it was just seen as something for the teen girls. I do think people that haven't seen it judge it wrongly, I know my partner completely thought it would be something really different, he basically watches anything I suggest/never has an opinion on what to watch and he was super impressed. It's a really punchy film, visually it is stunning.
I thought I would mention I was a teen girl when it came out and I saw it in the cinema, I used to go to the cinema all the time back then. I went with quite a few girls to see it, possibly 4 or 5, we might have seemed slightly insensitive laughing at the end, this was mainly down to another girl in the cinema whaling and screaming "Oh Leo" when he died, but, the whole point of this story is I just remember it being big with teen girls because of Dicaprio. I think most people still see it as a film for girls. Whenever I watch it I hear that girl though. |
