Well that was an enjoyable 40 minutes.

Some comments:

1) In regards to Stagefright:
"The US Region 0 releases should be the obvious choices, but the Dutch Region 0 release has an open matte version. It seems that there is some confusion regarding the correct aspect ratio of "Stagefright". Some sources indicate that Anchor Bay's/Blue Underground's 1.85:1 transfer is "zoomed in", and picture information on the top and bottom is lost."

Rewind @ www.dvdcompare.net - Stagefright AKA Stagefright: Aquarius AKA Deliria AKA Bloody Bird (1987)

2) On Caligula:
Have a read here...

C A L I G U L A

3) If you like "Deliverance-esque films" check out Rituals (1977) on Code Red Dvd.

4) Enjoy the uncut version of the original My Bloody Valentine,a great slasher imho.

Today saw the arrival of ;
THE BURNING BD
THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN BD
MOTEL HELL BD
TCM 3D BD
And at last,a cover to be proud of,
ROLLING THUNDER BD

Also bought DJANGO UNCHAINED Steely from HMV at a most impressive £15.99.

Nice to see common sense prevailing, but will it be the same price by the end of the week?

The 'widescreen' stagefright is definately zoomed in. The dutch dvd (released by dragon I think.) has both the fullscreen unmatted and cropped widescreen. But honestly the smart money would ignore BOTH releases and pick up the VIPCO. Weird as it sounds the picture quality is excellent, its fullscreen and contains all the image and its WAY cheaper.

StageFright [1986] [DVD]: Amazon.co.uk: Film & TV

Barring a decent blu-ray release its a rare-as-hell instance of the vipco release being the one to go for!

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed someone picks up Stagefright, The sect and the Church and sticks them out in a michelle soavi blu-ray box set. Hell if I had the cash to hand i'd buy the rights up and release them myself!
