Great films. I recite lines from the first two all the time when I'm with friends and surprisingly, they are always stumped.

They're a treasure trove for quotes. Also great that Joe Spinell pops up a couple of times.

Blimey! That cover design is truly terrible! It's like they actually made an effort to make the film look as bland as possible . . .

Also makes it look fairly innocuous :)

An interesting movie, not got round to seeing Drum yet but will do.

My copy of Blow Out was "dispatched" today, so hopefully that'll turn up sometime this week.
Moving in a couple of weeks, so I am hesitant to order anything else. Guess I'll have to go into an actual shop for my film fix.

Yeah, they went slighly more the 'Respectable Studio 'based on a novel' Historical Movie' route, rather than 'BLOODY SLAVE-ON-SLAVE FIGHTS TO THE DEATH and FOLK BOILED ALIVE IN A BIG POT!!!!' route . . .

You should be on their payroll, your description pretty much nailed it ;)

Any idea if the UK DVD of Drum is uncut?

Someone remarked this about the film:

"Near porno film disguised as slavery drama. You people need to be a cravin' fo' some celluloid trash in heat in order to sit through this highly sick and very entertaining movie. not to be confused with Alex Haley's tame Roots. The sequel is called "Drum," and stars boxer Ken Norton in a near porno stint."

It's a pretty jaw dropping movie but hardly pornographic. Wonder how many people who've recently seen Django Unchained have seen it.

These Studio Canal releases have been popping up at reasonable prices again so got these whilst they're around, been wanting them for ages. Payday on Friday, might get Third Man aswell.
